River was woken up in the middle of the night. She was panting as panic engulfed her. She immediately looked around and found Ranon's sleeping face; only then did she realize that she had had a nightmare.
Ranon was sleeping next to her, with one arm placed over her stomach, while his face was against her neck. He was fast asleep.
Gently, River caressed his face. In this dimly lit room, she watched him sleeping peacefully, the rise and fall of his chest, and how his warm breath caressed her bare shoulder. He was finally sated after he moved Ashlyn to her bedroom, when she had fallen asleep.
He wanted his woman for his own tonight.
"Damn, what kind of good thing have I done to have you in both of my lives?"
In her low moment, River thought it would be impossible for Ranon to recognize her when she returned to her body. Or even if she tried, the complicated things that surrounded her identity as River would make it hard for her to win him over.
