Chapter 40 - Ultimate Power

Dream was frozen. He thought he recalled JSchlatt being banned at this point in his former life, though from his high emotional state, induced by the flashes of memory he regained from seeing Schlatt, it could have been untrue.

All he saw was pain, horror, and tyranny. This man had to be stopped, no matter the cost. What was he doing here? Dream was confused. He hadn't seen Schlatt here in his past life, at least he didn't think so. It didn't make sense.

But then Dream saw the item in Schlatt's hand, and all thoughts of how he had gotten here vanished.

No. Impossible. That's impossible, it must be.

It was a small orange cube, with metal plates that were covered in lights and buttons on every side.

How does JSchlatt have a command block?

That made even less sense than him being here.

No one on the SMP should have access to op, much less be holding a command block. Add to that that the person in question was JSchlatt? Something was up. Something very, very bad.

Dream had no doubts as to what he would do if he could get the command block to function. It would give him unlimited power. He could do whatever he wanted. He could put himself in creative mode, get more command blocks, give himself anything, simply kill, kick, or even ban other players, continuously pardon himself so that not even an admin could ban him unless they found and destroyed it...

Command blocks were the pinnacle of power on any server. And JSchlatt had one.

JSchlatt placed the command block in a prepared hole in the ground, and input a command. After he stepped back, Dream tentatively reached down to see what it would do.

As he touched it, an impression entered his mind. This was no ordinary command block. Somehow, JSchlatt had done something. Changed it.

Dream got a dark feeling from it. Looking at the command, Dream's incorporeal hands started shaking. It couldn't be, could it? He couldn't read the language, but he somehow understood what it did.

The command block gave everyone limited lives.

Each person on the SMP would now have three lives after this was pressed. Anyone on the server would instantly be sent to Limbo once they respawned after their third death.

Somehow, JSchlatt had found something even worse than making himself a god.

Making everyone else mortal.

Well, everyone, including himself. Dream noticed some few deviations in his impression, but he didn't know what they meant, so he would have to wait and see.

For now, this was what mattered: That JSchlatt was here, and everyone could be killed.

Permanently.

Dream would have to find a way to solve this problem, but...

Eret covered the command block and placed a button over it.

Why would he do that? Couldn't he just activate it himself?

Actually, why did JSchlatt not activate it? Why did he bring it to Eret in the first place?

What was the point of all of this subterfuge when they could just do it themselves?

Unless...

Unless they couldn't.

Something strange was going on here. And Dream wanted to find out what.

Unfortunately, the members of L'Manburg entered the room before he could do anything.

"Welcome, gentlemen, to the final control room!" Eret said dramatically.

The people of L'Manburg were still confused. And even more so when they filed into the room, filled with chests with each of their names, and there was a single wooden button on the floor.

There was a tense silence. Eret's aura glowed with pride and a hint of a smirk showed on his face, though Dream was almost sure that the others couldn't see it, as their attention was focused on the button.

The other members of L'Manburg had greyish auras that swirled around between different shades.

Eventually, unable to stand the silence, Tommy pushed the button.

Nothing happened.

Eret's face was shocked, though the other members of L'Manburg didn't notice.

Because it was at that moment that the other Dream emerged.
