Wilbur placed wooden slabs on the windows so that the L'Manburg citizens could return fire with less of a risk of getting hit themselves, to buy time as they formulated a plan.
Tommy wanted to ender pearl up to the top of the tower and knock them all off, but Dream saw the flaws with that plan immediately. After all, they were in netherite, which reduced knockback, and they could easily turn and attack and kill Tommy. All it would do was provide a brief respite for the others.
Tubbo had a different objection. He revealed to Tommy that the other Dream had end crystals, dropped by Tubbo when he had been killed by him earlier, and that the other Dream could easily use the crystals to kill Tommy. Dream knew, though, that the other Dream wouldn't even need end crystals to kill Tommy.
Fundy, who had rejoined them by now, had a different suggestion, though. He came up with the idea that he could drink invis and sneak to the top of the tower, unseen, and knock them off, while they couldn't do anything about it.
Once everyone agreed, the other members raced out, ostensibly to perform different tasks, to draw fire as Fundy snuck up to the top of the tower.
When they got out, however, they realized that there were no more shots falling on them. The other Dream and his army had moved back to another position. Dream noticed just before Wilbur and Tommy that they were falling back to Ponk's tower.
The L'Manburg citizens shot arrows after them as they ran, and then Tommy and Tubbo had the idea of going up the adjacent Punz's tower to almost match their height advantage. The two of them climbed the inside of Punz's tower while the others stayed and continued firing at the other Dream and his allies from the ground level.
But the other Dream and his allies didn't go up Ponk's tower. They remained at the bottom, returning fire to the L'Manburg citizens. That meant that as Tommy and Tubbo reached the top, they had a significant height advantage over the members of the Greater Dream SMP.
As arrows rained down on their flank from above and were shot from their front, the other Dream had no choice but to call the retreat. Him and the other members of the Greater Dream SMP were once again on the run from L'Manburg arrows, buzzing through the air around them and occasionally hitting them with a vengeance like bloodthirsty birds.
This was the true turning point. Dream watched with excitement as, outgeared and outclassed, L'Manburg's army was driving back the warriors of the Greater Dream SMP.
With their spirits high and a light-hearted pink color filling the air around them in Dream's vision, the members of L'Manburg went back to their land to celebrate and prepare for the final battle of the war for independence.
Eret greeted them there with a plan. He said he had found a secret weapon, one that would turn the tide of the war for good. With this blow, he said, they could utterly destroy the army of the Greater Dream SMP.
But he didn't tell them what it was.
They were confused, but triumphant. Confused because of the lack of forthcoming information, but triumphant enough to push forward with it. They trusted Eret.
Dream did not.
He remembered his original assessment of Eret. Dream moved through the rock, with more difficulty now after the advent of the ender chest, to see what Eret was planning.
What he saw when he arrived was shocking. There was Eret. Not alone. Dream, unfortunately, did know the person beside him. He had a mustache, a beard, and hair that covered the entire lower half of his face. He had small nubs at the top of his head, though they were hidden for the most part by his curly hair.
This man's name was JSchlatt.
And what he meant was trouble.
