"Even though I'm complicated? Even though being associated with me could complicate your mysterious career?"
"Diana. I've built my life around managing complications. I think I can handle things thrown at me fairly well,"
She stared at him for a long moment. "You really are dangerous, aren't you?"
"Completely."
"Good." Her smile was radiant. "I was getting bored with safe."
They finished their meal as the sun set, painting the canal gold and crimson. Other couples walked past—young and old, some with children, all absorbed in their own small worlds.
"This is nice," Diana said. "Being anonymous. Just two people having dinner."
"We could do it again."
"When?"

"Even with all your business complications and military obligations?"
