Adeline nodded thoughtfully, leaning against the bedframe. "It is," she said, though her tone was more measured. It was not exactly all that she hoped it would be, but she had kind of high expectations to begin with.
Layla tilted her head up to look at Adeline, but soon realised she could not see through the wood. "You seem like you have a lot on your mind," she said, her voice softer than before. She wanted to be friends with her... And there was a reason why.
Adeline blinked, caught off guard by the sudden shift in tone. "Maybe," she admitted. It was not like her problems were easy to share.
"Well, don't worry too much," Layla said with a grin. "Whatever it is, I am sure you'll figure it out. You seem like the kind of person who can handle anything."
Adeline did not know how to respond to that, so she simply smiled. Layla truly saw the best in people.
