Chapter 71 - Chapter 071: The Tailed Beast Ball Flicked Away

The sharp blades glinting under the sunlight had filled the sky like a sea of steel, blotting out the sun and casting jagged shadows across the war-torn battlefield.

The Kumo shinobi, renowned across the elemental nations for their mastery of ninja swords, had long perfected their unique Lightning-style kenjutsu techniques. Their armies were never short of steel—lightning-charged blades forged for swift, brutal strikes.

But now, every single one of those weapons hovered in the air like a swarm of angry wasps—pointed not at the enemy, but at their own wielders.

They were all under the control of Namikaze Mirai.

Swords that once gleamed with pride in the hands of Kumo's warriors had become merciless executioners, blades aimed at their former masters with surgical precision. The terrifying truth settled in: bringing metal weapons to a battlefield where Namikaze Mirai stood… had been a critical mistake.

From the rear command tent, Dodai, the chief strategist of the Kumo forces, watched with bloodshot eyes and trembling hands. He had made a fatal miscalculation.

Rumors had circulated since the Third Great Ninja War—stories of Namikaze Mirai turning entire enemy armories against their own forces, of even the Gold Dust turned to sand crumbling at his feet. To counter this overwhelming threat, Sunagakure had once ordered their troops to abandon all metal weaponry, instead opting for crude bone knives and sharpened stone spears. Their combat power had plummeted, but the decision had been necessary.

All because of that monstrous ability—Magnet-style.

No, not just any Magnet-style. Namikaze Mirai's Magnet-style.

It defied conventional logic, defied chakra theory—it was completely unscientific. Even the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, a master of Magnet-style himself, had been utterly powerless against it. During one infamous encounter, all of Rasa's Gold Dust had been wrenched from his control and had coiled itself lovingly around Mirai's feet—like a metallic throne bowing before its king.

That humiliation had broken Rasa. After the war, he slipped into madness and lost the ability to lead, eventually replaced by his successor, Pakura of the Scorch-style.

And now, Dodai realized with horror—he had underestimated Mirai after all.

If this continued, even without a single Konoha blade drawn, the mere weapons looted on this battlefield would be enough for Mirai to cause a massacre among the Kumo shinobi. Corpses would litter the ground like discarded armor.

The dread wasn't his alone.

From the front lines, both Yugito and Killer Bee realized the escalating danger. As Perfect Jinchūriki, their instincts screamed warnings. They didn't hesitate.

With a roar, Yugito's form shimmered and stretched—fur, claws, fangs. The fiery-blue chakra of the Two-Tails exploded outward as she completed her full transformation.

Her feline mouth opened wide.

*Wuuuooooooonnnnnngg!!*

A high-pitched screech reverberated across the field as a rapidly condensing ball of chakra formed. It began small, but expanded at an alarming rate—its destructive power evident in every thrum of chakra in the air.

"Tailed Beast Ball! That's a Tailed Beast Ball!"

Panic swept through the Konoha ranks. Even the most battle-hardened shinobi felt the crushing weight of that monstrous attack. The chakra was so dense it twisted the air, making every breath feel like breathing water.

Sweat trickled down foreheads. Legs wobbled.

Uchiha Fugaku's eyes narrowed. His Mangekyō Sharingan rotated with intensity as he summoned what remained of his strength. The familiar skeletal frame of Susanoo flickered behind him. But before it could stabilize—

*Wuuuumm…*

His vision blurred. The strain was too great.

'My visual prowess… it's near its limit. If I force it, the damage would be beyond acceptable.'

Reluctantly, he let the chakra dissolve. The partial Susanoo faded. He'd already proven his worth by batting back the earlier strike from the Two-Tails.

Now, all he could do… was hope.

His gaze turned toward the center of the battlefield—toward Mirai.

So did the eyes of Yamanaka Inoichi, Akimichi Choza, and countless others. Hearts pounded in collective anticipation.

The atmosphere was suffocating.

As the Tailed Beast Ball continued to swell, silence blanketed the battlefield like snowfall. The very air trembled.

'If Mirai-sama can't stop this… what do we do?'

"Here it comes!" Inoichi shouted, voice hoarse and tight.

And then—

*BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!*

The Tailed Beast Ball blasted from Yugito's jaws like a meteor, leaving a trail of blackened earth and flame in its wake. The explosion of sound hit next, cracking eardrums. The very ground split apart in deep, violent ravines.

The ball hurtled straight toward the Konoha forces.

Some dropped their weapons.

Others shut their eyes.

A deranged glint lit up Yugito's eyes as she watched the attack soar—her lips curling into a savage grin.

'Let's see how you handle this! This is the power of a tailed beast, fools!'

Then—

*Clang!*

A single, clear metallic crash.

The grin on Yugito's face froze.

Blue lightning streaked across the battlefield. In a blur faster than most could register, Namikaze Mirai appeared mid-air—between the Tailed Beast Ball and the Konoha forces.

With his right arm outstretched, palm facing outward, he simply—

Swatted it away.

Like a man flicking away a fly, he redirected the monstrous orb. It veered mid-air, arcing in a wide parabola over the battlefield and crashing far into the distant plains.

A full heartbeat passed.

Then the land exploded.

*DOOOOOOOM!!!*

A mushroom cloud towered in the distance, shaking the heavens. The ground beneath the ninja rumbled. A hot wind swept across the battlefield.

And then—dead silence.

Everyone froze.

Fugaku. Inoichi. Yugito. Even Killer Bee.

Every eye stared at the solitary figure with blond hair swaying in the wind.

Was that really… a Tailed Beast Ball?

The kind of technique that could erase an entire town?

Had he really… just slapped it away?

It didn't feel real. The silence broke only with confused murmurs.

"Did he really…?"

"It looked like a rubber ball…"

Mirai, standing tall and calm, slowly lowered his arm. His expression remained stoic, but sweat traced his brow.

He alone knew the difficulty behind the act.

Timing. Chakra focus. Trajectory calculation. Magnetic field manipulation. It wasn't luck. It was hundreds of micro-adjustments, executed in perfect sequence.

He had no margin for error.

'If Uchiha Madara could juggle the Nine-Tails… then why shouldn't I be able to flick away one of the weakest Tailed Beast's chakra orb?'

The Kumo ninja stood frozen in shock. Many trembled where they stood.

The image of the Blue Flash—a man who could treat a Tailed Beast Ball like a toy—was now seared into their minds. Fear, raw and consuming, began to take hold.

Morale cracked.

Then it shattered.

"R-Retreat!" Dodai's voice echoed in panic. His earlier resolve crumbled. Even he, proud commander of the Kumo army, had to admit—there was no path forward.

This wasn't a battle anymore. It was a massacre waiting to happen.

His gaze lingered on the blond figure in the distance, eyes burning with humiliation and hatred.

'We counted on the Jinchūriki to turn the tide… but he turned them into props for his spectacle.'

Even though Killer Bee hadn't made a move. Better to fall back and regroup than charge into annihilation.

As the retreat signal flared in the sky, the Konoha shinobi slowly processed the turn of events.

And then—they erupted.

"Blue Flash!""Mirai-sama!!"

The battlefield roared with cheers, emotion flooding their voices.

Their savior stood among them—Namikaze Mirai, the storm incarnate, the man who turned a hopeless slaughter into an overwhelming triumph.

The 'Blue Flash' had once again burned his legend into history.
