After finishing his lower body training, Kay stood up, feeling the slight burn in his legs. He took a deep breath and stretched a little before deciding to check on his Pokémons. He was curious to see how much they had improved since he last watched them.
He walked quietly toward Eevee, who was still sitting in its peaceful corner of the cave. Kay made sure not to make any noise so he wouldn't disturb its focus.
Eevee's eyes were closed, and its breathing was steady. A soft glow surrounded its small body as it continued practicing Calm Mind.
Kay sat a few feet away, observing in silence. After a few minutes of watching, Kay nodded to himself. Eevee was improving slowly but surely.
The move required deep concentration and inner balance, and Eevee seemed to be on the right path. It would just take some time, and Kay was willing to give it.
Next, Kay went toward Growlithe, who was on the other side of the cave. The fiery Pokémon was still training Flame Wheel, running and trying to spin while building up heat.
But unlike Eevee, Growlithe seemed to be struggling. Its spinning was unstable, and it couldn't control the fire properly. The move looked more like wild running than a proper attack.
Kay walked closer and called out, "Hey, Growlithe, I think you should break the move into smaller parts. First, focus on spinning alone. Get your balance right. Then, once you're comfortable, work on heating up your body. After that, combine both parts and practice the full move."
Growlithe stopped, panting, and looked at Kay. It tilted its head thoughtfully, then barked, "Graaw!" and nodded. Kay could tell that it understood and was ready to change its approach.
The hours passed, and soon, night fell. The inside of the cave grew darker and quieter. Since Kay had already made it to the next game successfully, he decided to get some rest.
But before lying down, he took a torchlight and walked deeper into the cave to make sure there were no threats like wild Pokémons, or some other dangers.
After checking every corner and making sure it was safe, he returned to the small camp area and lay down.
Kay made a simple plan for the night. Eevee and Growlithe would take turns staying awake and keeping watch.
One of them would rest while the other stayed alert. Then they would switch. This way, they could all sleep safely. With the two Pokémons taking care of him, Kay felt more relaxed than he had in days.
That night, Kay had one of the best sleeps since the tournament began. No one approached the cave, and there were no wild Pokémons attacks. For once, the night passed peacefully.
When the morning sun began to rise, light slowly entered the cave. Kay woke up feeling refreshed. Now the third game was almost over, just a few hours left.
So, he decided to use that time to continue training both himself and his Pokémons. He repeated some physical exercises and helped his Pokémons polish their techniques.
Finally, as the last hour of the game ended, Kay stood near the entrance of the cave. He returned Growlithe to its Pokéball and waited.
He expected Alakazam to appear before him and teleport him back to the tournament base, just like before.
But instead of Alakazam, a huge Pokémon suddenly appeared in front of him. Its sudden appearance made Kay jump in shock. He wasn't expecting anything like this.
The Pokémon was Exeggutor, and it was massive. Its tall, tree-like body had long legs and multiple heads, each with a face that seemed to be smiling or watching.
Its leaves rustled lightly in the breeze, and its powerful presence filled the area. Kay stared at it in surprise. Why had this Pokémon shown up?
Before Kay could say or do anything, Exeggutor's eyes glowed. In an instant, it used Teleport, and the world around Kay vanished in a flash of light.
When Kay opened his eyes, he found himself still inside the forest, but not alone. Around him were several other players, standing or sitting near trees and rocks.
He realized that all of them must have been teleported here as well. They had finished the third game too.
That confused Kay as to why Exeggutor didn't teleport him to the base directly. But he pushed that idea far because, as he looked around, Exeggutor was already glowing again, its body gathering Psychic-type energy. It was preparing to use Teleport one more time.
Out of curiosity, Kay called to the system in his mind and asked for Exeggutor's status. A robotic voice echoed in his head:
Exeggutor
Potential: Dark Red
Stage: Superior Silver
Moveset: Giga Drain, Teleport, Psyshock, Solar Beam, Sunny Day, Energy Ball, Body Slam, Substitute, Seed Bomb
Kay's eyes widened slightly. This Exeggutor was extremely strong. With so many powerful moves and a rare potential, it was no ordinary Pokémon.
Still, he was sure that Alakazam was even stronger.
After Exeggutor teleported him, Kay looked around, turning his head in all directions. He was trying to identify the players standing nearby.
His eyes moved quickly from one person to another, searching for any familiar faces; people he had seen or fought against in previous games.
It didn't take long for Kay to spot someone he knew. Standing not far away was player number 5, the trainer who had been his teammate during the first game.
He was the one who used an Onix. Kay gave a small nod, remembering how well they had worked together back then.
Then, Kay noticed another familiar face; someone from the opposing team in that same game.
It was the team leader of the group they had fought against; the only survivor. He reminded Kay of the bad memories of that tough match.
As Kay kept turning and scanning the group, his eyes landed on another person who stood out; player number 27.
Kay narrowed his eyes slightly. This was Cubone's trainer, his target during the third game.
But Kay didn't stop at just recognizing the players, he also began examining the Pokémons standing beside them.
He checked the status of all the Pokémons in that spot. He knew that any information he gathered now could help him later in the coming games. Any detail could become an advantage.
Suddenly, one Pokémon caught Kay's full attention.
It was a Scyther.
The bug- and flying-type Pokémon stood proudly beside player number 8. Kay's eyes widened as he read its status.
Scyther
Potential: Light Purple
Stage: Superior Steel
Moveset: Air Slash, X-Scissor, Agility, Quick Attack, Close Combat, Swords Dance, Protect, Hyper Beam, Night Slash, Counter, Bulldoze
What shocked Kay most wasn't just the Scyther's high potential; it was also the number of moves it could use.
Most Pokémons didn't have such a long list of learned moves, especially in Steel Stage. But the real surprise was one move in particular: Bulldoze.
"Scyther can't learn Bulldoze," Kay thought, frowning in confusion. "From my knowledge from games and series, Scyther couldn't learn this move, so how?"
The more he looked at it, the more Kay realized that this Scyther wasn't normal. It was a special one, likely trained in a unique way or modified through some method Kay didn't yet understand.
One thing was clear, if he made it to the final stages of the tournament, there was a high chance he would face this Scyther in battle. And it wouldn't be easy.
As Kay continued thinking about Scyther, more players began arriving. One by one, they appeared in flashes of light, teleported just like he was.
Then, in the middle of the group, a bright light shone again, and this time, Alakazam appeared.
Calm and silent, the powerful Psychic-type Pokémon didn't wait. It immediately used Teleport once more, and with a flash, all the players vanished from the forest.
They were taken back to the tournament base.
As they arrived, most players stumbled or held their heads from the effects of teleportation.
But Kay stayed still and firm, forcing himself to resist the strange feeling. As soon as he got his balance back, he quickly turned toward Alakazam and tried to scan its information.
But nothing appeared.
A moment later, a cold and robotic voice echoed in his head.
"The synchronization level isn't enough to read the status of such a high-stage Pokémon."
Kay frowned but stayed calm. He asked silently in his mind, 'So with time, I'll be able to see it?'
"Yes," Rotom answered.
Kay understood that the synchronization level with Rotom could increase the strengths of the system.
