Kay stood in the middle of the cave, his eyes moving between his two Pokémons. The cave was quiet, the only sounds being the soft rustle of leaves outside and the distant chirping of forest Pokémons.
Inside, the air was cool and calm, perfect for focused training. Kay decided to begin by explaining each move properly so his Pokémons could understand what they were trying to learn.
He walked over to Eevee and knelt down to its level, speaking in a calm and clear tone. "Eevee," he began, "the move I want you to train on is Calm Mind. It's a Psychic-type move, and even though you're not a Psychic Pokémon, I believe you can learn it with time and effort."
He paused a moment, then continued, "When you use Calm Mind, you need to stay very still and focus your energy. It's like meditating. This move will help you raise your Special Attack and Special Defense, which means your energy-based moves will hit harder, and you'll be able to resist those kinds of attacks better, too."
As Eevee listened carefully, its large brown eyes blinked with focus. Then it let out a soft bark, "Eevwee... Eevwee..." and wagged its tail, showing it had understood what Kay was saying.
Without needing another word, Eevee walked toward a quiet corner of the cave. It sat down, closed its eyes slowly, and began breathing deeply.
Its body remained still, and little by little, a faint soft light began forming around it. Its fur shimmered slightly as it tried to focus all its energy into calming its mind and collecting inner power.
Sometimes, its concentration would break, and the light would flicker away, but Eevee always started again without giving up. With each attempt, the light grew steadier, a sign that it was making progress.
Kay smiled at Eevee's effort, then turned to Growlithe, who was already sitting eagerly, its tail swishing excitedly as it waited for its turn.
"Growlithe," Kay said with a grin, "your move is Flame Wheel. It's a Fire-type move where you surround yourself with flames and spin at your opponent. It's great for breaking through defenses or charging head-on."
He then raised a finger and added, "But you have to control the fire so it wraps around your body safely. You don't want to burn yourself. You need to imagine your whole body turning into a wheel of fire, then start running and spinning at the same time."
Growlithe let out an excited bark, "Graaw! Graaw!" It glanced at Eevee for a second, then mimicked its big brother by walking over to another corner of the cave.
It planted its paws firmly on the ground and began focusing. At first, little sparks flickered around its paws.
Then it started running in small circles, trying to get used to the movement. As it kept spinning faster, its body heated up, and thin streams of flame began circling around its body.
Sometimes the flames would vanish, or the spin would be off-balance, but Growlithe kept trying, barking each time it improved, and occasionally glancing at Eevee as if checking whether it was doing things right.
Growlithe was looking at Eevee as its big brother. Kay noticed that Growlithe was mimicking Eevee in many situations.
Kay watched them both for a moment, proud of their determination. Then he turned away and walked to the cave wall.
He leaned his back against it and slid down to sit, deep in thought. 'In the past few games, it was clear I lacked physical strength.'
He remembered how tired he had felt after running for long or during moments that needed him to act fast. It wasn't enough for just his Pokémons to train; he had to become stronger too.
With that, Kay stood up again, took a deep breath, and began doing warm-up stretches to loosen his muscles.
Then he dropped to the ground and started doing push-ups, slowly at first. His arms trembled a little with each rep, but he didn't stop.
He kept going, sweat slowly forming on his forehead. Even though he began feeling tired, he was determined to push his body more.
All around him, the cave was alive with quiet but powerful energy. Eevee glowed gently in its peaceful meditation. Growlithe ran in determined circles, his flames growing hotter with each spin.
After finishing his first round of physical training, Kay stood up, stretching his arms and wiping the sweat from his forehead.
His breathing was steady now, and his body was starting to feel more awake and alive. He glanced around the cave and saw his two Pokémons still hard at work.
A warm feeling spread through his chest as he walked toward them, wanting to check on their progress more closely.
He approached Eevee first. The small Pokémon was sitting quietly in the corner, eyes shut, surrounded by a faint glow as it tried to focus its energy for Calm Mind.
But every now and then, its ears would twitch at the sound of Growlithe's fiery bark or the stomping of paws.
Kay crouched beside it and spoke in a soft voice, "Eevee, I want you to move a little deeper inside the cave. Somewhere calmer, with less noise. Growlithe's training is too loud and might disturb your focus. And for Calm Mind, staying focused is very important."
Eevee opened its eyes, looked up at Kay, and gave a little nod of understanding. "Eevwee," it said softly, then stood up and trotted deeper into the cave, its steps quiet and light.
It paused for a moment to find a good spot, then sat again and resumed its training, now in peaceful silence.
Kay smiled at Eevee's response, then turned and walked toward Growlithe. The fire Pokémon was still running in circles, small flames dancing around its body as it tried to get better at Flame Wheel. Kay watched carefully, studying Growlithe's movement and how the fire behaved.
After a few seconds, he called out, "Growlithe, I want to tell you something important about Flame Wheel. This move does more than just attack your opponent." He waited until Growlithe stopped and looked at him, panting slightly but listening.
"When you use this move, your body's temperature rises from the fire. And when that happens, your blood flows faster through your body, even to your brain. This makes your reaction time quicker, and you'll be able to move faster too."
Growlithe tilted its head, clearly trying to understand. Kay gave him a moment to let the information sink in, then added, "So don't just spin and attack; focus on raising your body heat in a controlled way. That way, the flames won't burn you from the outside, and you'll still get faster and sharper."
Growlithe let out a bark of understanding, "Graaww!" then went back to practicing, now with more control in its spinning and focus on its inner fire.
As Kay was about to go back to his own training, a sharp sound rang out from his Pokédex.
Ding!
He quickly reached into his bag, pulled it out, and checked the screen. It was a reminder for the next location scan on the island.
He watched as the map loaded and numbers updated. A few seconds later, Kay counted the red points and concluded that only 12 players remained out of 16.
Kay narrowed his eyes slightly. That meant four players had already been eliminated or died.
He let out a small breath and turned off the screen, placing the Pokédex back into his bag.
Not letting the pressure get to him, Kay returned to his spot near the wall and prepared for the next part of his physical training.
This time, it was leg time. He began doing squats, bending and rising slowly, focusing on keeping his balance and posture right.
