Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Treaty with Carrion

I had sent Grucius to go inform Carrion that I wanted to form a treaty knowing it would probably take weeks for him to give me an answer. That's why I did it as quickly as possible to make the wait more bearable.

One day as I was showing Milim the newly invented hot and cold faucets I heard there was a carriage from Eurazania in the front of the town of Rimuru. Apparently they were looking for me.

Walking up to the Hobgoblin who gave the news I said, "Thank you for notifying me, this is very important." Turning to Milim I say, "Milim, this is something I have to do so for now can you go spend time with Rimuru?"

She says yes which helps me out a lot. "Thanks for understanding." I walk out the building and fly over to the carriage. Out walks Albis, one of the three Beastketeers. Interesting, sending one of the Beastketeers for this.

She does a slight bow and says, "Greetings Sir Migeru, I am Albis of the three Beastketeers. I have been sent by Lord Carrion to escort you to Eurazania, it is a pleasure to meet you."

What a far cry from Phobio's first introduction in canon, isn't it. I respond, "Nice to meet you, Albis, I deeply appreciate your kingdom's willingness to accept my request."

We immediately start talking about how I will get to Eurazania. I will ride their carriage all the way to Eurazania apparently. Should take a while according to them though. About a two week journey. I could get there faster by flying but that would have been a little rude considering they sent a whole carriage here.

Due to my [Stomach] I am already able to leave. Everything I need is already packed up so we immediately set off to leave. Of course, I do tell one of the Goblin Lords under Rigurd to explain what is happening to Rigurd and then Rimuru. They should be able to figure this out. I also tell him to make Gobzi keep an eye on Vesta who would be the only noteworthy scientist in Tempest working at my lab.

Yelling out, "Souei, Ranryo!" Into the air immediately causes Souei to appear from out of nowhere and Ranryo to jump out of my shadow. I ask the slightly surprised Albis if they can come with me to which she says it's fine assuming they fit in the carriage. I say it's fine and tell Ranryo to jump back into my shadow and explain to Souei that he's coming with me.

I get in the carriage with Souei and get ready for the long journey. Nothing really happens the entire time we're heading to Eurazania. This is mostly due to me releasing a bit of my aura to ward off monsters. Due to that we get there pretty unscathed. Albis leads me to Carrions throne room where he is set to wait for me. After entering I see Carrion sitting there waiting for my arrival.

After arriving I say, "Hello, Demon Lord Carrion," with an almost evil smile.

Greeting me as well with a more carefree attitude than Gazel but still pretty kingly attitude. He explains that if discussion is what I want then he set up a meeting room nearby for us to talk in private.

I scan his face and attitude with [Genius] active as he talks to me. [Genius] enhances my intelligence a lot while it's active. With it active I've figured out with the right knowledge from [Great Sage] I can basically tell everything about your personality just by looking at you. I notice that he seems warty of me by doing this. It makes sense, I knew way too much about his plans with Clayman, Frey, and Milim.

Escorted to the meeting room, Carrion tells Albis to guard the door to avoid spying. Walking in I see a large meeting table large enough to fit a group but still small enough for a one to one conversation. Sitting down, we begin to talk.

He starts, asking how I knew so much about his plans with the other Demon Lords.

Smiling, I say, "Come on Carrion. You and me both know that isn't something you say so easily. It's a secret Carrion and it's not something I'm willing to give up easily."

He sighs, "I see, very well. So, what brings you here?"

Getting ready to explain I think about what exactly to say with [Thought Acceleration] active. I then explain, "I'll just get straight to the point, I, one of the Twin Rulers of the Jura Tempest Federation, would like to form diplomatic relations with the Beast Kingdom Eurazania."

Clearly a little intrigued asks, "What exactly do you have to offer in return?" Already prepared for this kind of conversation, I wouldn't expect less from the king of Eurazania.

I smugly say, "Well, you must be curious about our new country to send a spy you know. I came to offer a sort of information sharing system where we can give you news on the ongoings of Tempest in return for your own. Of course, top secret projects would be off the table. If we do in fact do this it would probably be preferable to avoid sending spies to each other." That last statement was hypocritical as hell by the way. According to my plans Eurazania will eventually be crawling with my own spies. "I know some of the spies aren't yours though so I'll deal with those separately."

Well, he's certainly thinking about what I'm saying but that offer definitely won't convince him. That's at best a small victory. Not worth sending his own information to Tempest.

"Now, that may not sound worth it to your kingdom on its own so I brought samples of just what your kingdom will be getting from this." I pull out a glass bottle with a full potion inside capable of healing 100% of injuries and a spray bottle of my newly created bug-spray made out of leaves from the Jura Forest from my [Stomach]. Placing them on the table Carrion looks at them a little confused but intrigued. He has a general idea what the healing potion is but not what the spray bottle is.

Souei, who has been behind me all this time, has been carrying two boxes. One with a large insect and one with a large rat-like monster. Asking him to put the see through boxes on the table, get ready to show Carrion what these boxes are for.

I explain, "These are two things I invented back in Tempest. A 100% full potion and a liquid capable of repelling and killing small pests. Bug-spray if you will. I learned bug-spray was quite expensive in this world a while back so I decided to make my own. It's just as strong if not stronger than the stuff you are probably buying at a fraction of the price."

Looking at me a little skeptical but open to me showing him proof he keeps watching.

I grab the box with the bug inside and open the top giving me access to the bug inside. The walls of the box are greased over so the bug can't climb up. "I say, "Alright, so here's the bug spray." I spray some on a section of the box where the bug isn't scurrying around. This causes it to immediately move as far away from the sprayed section as possible. Showing him how it works as a repellent I move on to the more immediate use of the spray. I spray the bug directly causing it to instantly stop moving and twitch as it dies. Looking up at Carrion I say, "As you can see, it's pretty effective and cheap to manufacture. I'd say I can offer just as much as the bug-spray you are getting from other countries for a fraction of the cost. This is a repellent that is already in wide use back in Tempest."

After showing him the repellent I then move on to the healing potion. I reach into the box with the rat monster and grab it. Lifting it close to me I blast a hole right through the rats body blowing up over 80% of the rat thing.

{82.56%}

Wasn't asking [Great Sage].

Before the rat dies though I splash the potion on it, healing it instantly. Carrions eyes widen and his eyebrows go up ever so slightly.

Smiling, I comment, "I see that got your attention. Here's another deal I'm willing to give you. The bug-spray is really cheap to produce between you and me. It's just that it's so expensive that raising the price a lot was reasonable. If you accept my treaty I am willing to lower the price just for Eurazania. I'd say, a 20% discount. This bug-spray is already being sent to Dwargon right now so you wouldn't be the first country to trade with Tempest. I'll even handle the creation of a road to Eurazania myself, what do you say?"

With his hand on his chin and his eyes closed he says, "I can't say you don't have my interest. The products you have shown me are indeed quite impressive but I have one question. Going back to what you said earlier, what exactly do you mean by sharing information?"

Makes sense. No half-decent king would accept such a vague preposition. "Well, I'm not asking for anything too secretive. I'll just ask for the bare minimum in my book, you know, new business prospects and new discoveries. In response we will do the same. This could help develop both countries. How would you like to be taught the recipe for our new bug-spray for example."

He immediately realizes the value of just that one product, "I see. You have my attention. Any other requests for your hypothetical treaty?"

"Just one more."

"And what would that be?"

Don't tell Clayman anything about what happened today."

Remembering something he says, "That reminds me, how do you know I was working with Clayman?"

"I know this might be important to explain for you to trust me so here I go. I won't say exactly how it works but it's a skill I have. It's called [Genius]. Using that you should be able to guess the idea of what it does. Using that I was able to piece together evidence to learn what you were doing." I over-confidently say, "I found out everything using Milim's arrival time, the arrival time of the spies, information I gained about the Demon Lords from travelers, Grucius' expressions, previous knowledge and I just used your expressions and body language to confirm everything."

Looking at me, impressed, he comments, "That's quite the terrifying skill."

Shrugging, I say, "I guess, but look at what it allows me to achieve and how it helps you. I am using it to make rapid technological developments. Imagine what you could gain from a country led by someone capable of making groundbreaking technological developments in only a few weeks or months."

"I understand. I'm considering it but in the end my acceptance relies on two more details. How much of these products can you make in a month and what are the exact details of this treaty? If I approve of both then I shall accept."

"Fair enough." I pull out a piece of paper from my [Stomach] and do some calculations. Using the productivity of my factories and considering the usage rates of the products by the countries of Dwargon and Tempest I can see how much I can sell to Eurazania. After completing the calculations I hand it to Carrion.

He looks at the paper, "This is incredible. To do such calculations so fast and, this paper. It rivals the best produced by the Eastern Empire."

Laughing a little, "Of course it does, I made them." I say partially sarcastically and partially serious. "Anyways, this is how much we can offer in a month. We're planning to make around 30 production buildings, all of which are going to work around the clock." By optimizing my own building I can make a factory shell in a few hours and complete the insides in weeks. 30 factories while a big project shouldn't take too long with the Ministry of Production helping out.

His eyes widen as he sees how much we can make. Running my own calculations I discovered we can make double what Eurazania needs monthly. He says, "This should be more than enough. Of course we still need to discuss the details. If you have a physical copy of your treaty, hand it over, I need to look it over."

"Sounds good." Making a copy of it in my [Stomach], I hand it to Carrion. I used my knowledge on Eurazania to make it as appealing to him as possible. I made sure to not use too much targeted advertising though, because there was no way he wouldn't have noticed and gotten suspicious. I also added a side clause where the two countries would help each other in case of disaster. This will help his country quite a bit when Milim attacks them. I am escorted out with Souei behind me to wait with Albis who is still guarding the door. After a bit of waiting, I am called back in.

Carrion says, "You have yourself a deal." Great, it worked. Of course nothing this big is that easy though so we still go into another little conversation over the exact details. Without Rimuru however, this can't be fully confirmed yet. We decide that the finest details will be discussed in Tempest with Rimuru but starting on this day it's unofficially in place that the Beast-Monster Treaty is in place.

During the discussion Carrion does give me a little warning. It's about the Tenma War. He believes that there is a small risk that this might speed up the Tenma War. I explain that I am aware of this and that I am planning countermeasures for this possibility. Putting a little faith in me that I can successfully avoid disaster he moves past this.

The Tenma War, huh, I don't think it'll be much of a problem, hehe.

{Warning- Your evil smile might affect Demon Lord Carrions trust in you.}

Is it really that evil? Alright then.

Before I leave I also explain that Grucius is to stay in Tempest to "spy" on it. This is to avoid Myulan getting suspicious and reporting to Clayman. I explain that I will give him important sounding useless information occasionally to help make this charade more believable. He understands and accepts.

On my way out I am offered a ride back but I decline telling him I can just fly back. Telling Souei to go into my shadow like Ranryo I head back. Arriving at Tempest about half an hour later I look for Rimuru. I find him in the Central Office working on his endless stacks of paperwork.

"Hey Rimuru, what 'cha doin'?"

He looks at me a little mad, "Working on the work you dumped on me!"

"Oh, right, you're the unwilling typewriter." I laugh a little after saying that. "Anyways, here you go."

He looks depressed when I give him the papers. "What's this?" He asks.

"It's a peace treaty I made. It's what I've been working on for the last few weeks."

"So that's why you left me with Milim."

"Yeah, sorry about that. Anyways, look it over for a bit and tell me your thoughts. Walking out of the room I let Rimuru look at the papers. After 10 minutes he calls me back in.

"I am okay with this but are you sure giving them information on your inventions is a good idea?" He seems a little worried about that.

I casually say, "Don't worry, the world changing inventions like the Magicule Bomb won't be revealed, however we are going to share some of the more basic quality of life improving inventions." I think about my statement a bit more, "Well, I guess they are all world changing considering a lot of them are modern type inventions. The least world changing I guess."

He thinks about it for a bit, "Well, they're your inventions, you can do what you want just be careful. But next time, tell me more before you do something like this, we agreed we would both contribute to these kinds of things."

"Alright, thanks bro!" I say putting an arm over his shoulder in a sort of half hug. This calmed him down and distressed him a bit after all the work he had done.

Walking out I head to my section of Tempest. Migeru City as people are calling it. It's mainly a production section with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Science both being based there. Of course there are monsters living there now to make working more convenient. Gurd also set up another forge there to make the lives of Kajin and the three Dwarf brothers easier as they work in both cities. The normal houses are really starting to accumulate at this point. They're mostly Orc houses but there are occasional Hobgoblin houses. Mostly the relatives of the Goblin Guard and the apprentices of the Dwarves for now. It's really coming together, though.

Note to self, make a tree farm.

{Notice- Reminder to make a tree farm has been set.}

Thanks, [Great Sage].

I need to make one because I need a sustainable source of leaves for the bug-spray. I don't want to deplete the forest. I feel like I've gotten busier recently.. Not that I'm complaining, I gotta admit, I might be a bit of a workaholic.
