Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Gazel Dwargo

Shortly after the defeat of the Orc Disaster In the Armed Nation of Dwargon the king, Gazel Dwargo, received some worrisome news. A kingdom of monsters had been founded somehow in the Great Jura Forest. Worse still; they're numbers were growing fast.

Looking through the report something catches his eye. A weapon capable of causing an explosion large enough to level the country of Dwargon had been seen being used in the battle.

King Gazel had sent his spies to monitor an unusual talking Slime that had visited their city a few months before. This has now proven to be a wise decision. Avoiding doing anything rash he had decided he shall meet the Slime himself.

Apparently this Slime had become the leader of this new country and from the impressions he got from the Slime he knew negotiations were possible. However, worst comes to worst he prepared his military in case extermination was his only option. With that he prepared as he decided to meet this monster face to face himself.

Meanwhile in the Puppet Kingdom of Jistav an argument had been taking place. Moving past the Magicule Bomb relatively quickly as power on that level wasn't exactly uncommon amongst the Demon Lords they knew monitoring of the situation was needed.

As they began to think of how to deal with this situation the bickering began. Who would be the one responsible for monitoring the new city?

During this argument one particular Demon Lord spoke the loudest. A short pink haired girl with twin tails and a rather revealing outfit. This was Demon Lord Milim Nava, one of the original Demon Lords and one of the strongest. Her loud voice had forced the other three Demon Lords present to quiet down.

They knew that while they were all Demon Lords, even if they teamed up against Milim, they wouldn't stand a chance. Her rage, well known amongst the Demon Lords, was the stuff of legends. Said to be capable of leveling entire countries she was definitely not someone to be underestimated. However, with a mind closer resembling a child's than an adult's she was easily controlled, or that's what they believed anyways.

Loudly proclaiming that she shall be the one to go visit this monster nation the others quickly agreed. They knew there was no way they were going to stop her. After their agreement she quickly left, not even bothering to open the door. After she left the arguments quickly started back up. So who was really going to monitor the situation?

The seemingly endless argument continued for a long time before they finally came to an agreement. Each would send one subordinate to the newly forming town. While not the ideal for any of them this was the best option they had come up with so they decided to go ahead. With that the meeting was over.

Back in the town of monsters one lone Slime saw it all coming. Migeru, one of the leaders of the alliance soon to be called Tempest, knew the Demon Lord more than they knew each other and this gave him a massive advantage. With his Unique Skill [Genius] he simulated the conversation in his head down to the most tiny detail and with that he knew exactly when they were going to arrive. King Gazel wouldn't be much of a problem either, knowing that he was more than capable of being reasoned with.

In his lab he started mixing a new concoction for their imminent arrival. What was it? Acid, poison? No, it was candy. For the first time since his arrival his manipulative nature had finally been fully reawakened. Being several steps ahead of everyone everything was going exactly as planned.

It's been about a day since I finished the candies I'm going to give Milim. Rimuru met Zegion and Apito not too long ago and introduced me to them. They seemed just as loyal to me as to them.

(Spongebob Narrator: Flashback)

I look down at the above average sized bugs next to Rimuru. I lean down to the beetle, "Hello there."

In a deep voice he quickly replies, "Greetings Lord Migeru. It is an honor to meet you."

Laughing, I say, "Well it's an honor meeting you too." Looking up at the floating wasp above me I say, "and you are?"

"Apito, Lord Migeru."

"Well, isn't that a great name? Nice to meet you Apito."

(Spongebob Narrator: End of Flashback)

Speaking of Zegion and Apito, right now I'm focusing on developing bug spray. There's been a big insect problem the town's been dealing with apparently. Insects can't exactly bite me and if they do I don't feel it so it hasn't been affecting me but it has been affecting the weaker monsters. The Kijin, High Orcs, and Dragonewts are strong enough to be completely unaffected as well but you can't say the same about the Hobgoblins.

Some have been getting sick recently from mosquitos. Can't believe they exist here as well. There's no escaping them no matter where you go. Not many monsters were paying attention to it until a relatively young Hobgoblin died from an insect caused disease. If we are having casualties at this point then there is no ignoring it. We need some kind of bug repellent.

I asked Kaijin about bug spray but apparently it's very expensive in this world. Apparently some countries can't even afford huge quantities of it. That really makes me appreciate my old world.

Deciding that making our own shouldn't be too hard I got to work. Using [Great Sage] and [Genius] I actually managed to make my own original cheap, plentiful recipe. It requires mixing and burning a few leaves from common trees in the Jura Forest.

I used [Predator] and [Phoenix Fire] to make it on my own but while it's easy, making a lot of it seemed kind of time consuming. That's when I finally got my idea for my next big project. I'm making a bug spray factory.

To finish it in a reasonable time we needed some help though so I hired a few hundred High Orcs, a few hundred Hobgoblins, Gurd and Kaijin. Making it is pretty time consuming though so we also decided to make some homes out here as well. That's exactly what I wanted. The factory location isn't too far away from my house and lab so by making my first factory I also just started the formation of my city.

Gurd is leading the building of the factory itself with a workforce of mostly High Orcs. He's working based on some of the blueprints I gave him and to my surprise he even managed to improve it. Well, he was a Dwarven construction worker after all.

Kaijin is leading the building of the machines with a workforce of mostly Hobgoblins. He was amazed by my design but quickly got over it given it was me who designed it. He had been training some Hobgoblins so he brought them along to help. The machine's have been coming along nicely. Kaijin and I even incorporated Fire Spirits into the design. This made the machine more efficient than if it was purely physical.

After the factory reaches about 40 percent completion I see something up in the sky. Flying white horses carrying people in armor. They are led by a huge Dwarf in the middle. It's Gazel. Knowing that I can't miss this event I quickly explain to Kaijin what's happening as he freaks out. To get there fast I summon Ranryo and let him ride on his back as I sprout my Phoenix wings and fly alongside them.

Arriving just in time to see Rimuru see them land I notice a pretty suspicious looking body shaped bag. Gotta say, it makes sense why Rimuru freaked out a little in the original. Rimuru looks a little worried but I already know who that is.

Landing King Gazel immediately unzips the bag revealing Vesta inside.

Unfazed by the fact he just carried someone in a body bag for who knows how many miles he immediately walks up to Kaijin and says, "It's been a while Kaijin." He turns down to Rimuru, "Slime, do you remember me?" Turning to me, "So it seems there are two of you?"

Rimuru and I are both in our Slime forms so he gets the idea of who we are. Recently I've spent a lot of time in my Human form because it's more efficient at doing the work I do but it's nice to relax a bit and melt back down into a blue blob.

As we both turn back into our Human forms I say, "Nice to meet you sir. I'm Migeru Tempest and that's my brother Rimuru Tempest as you might already know. We are twin brothers and the rulers of this town." I try to sound as polite as possible as I say this.

He introduces himself as well in a much more regal fashion than I ever could.

With introductions over I decide it's time to get things started. I invite him over to a nearby empty building to talk. I actually made a custom chair just for him and this occasion.

After he accepts, Rimuru asks why he's here and why he brought Vesta with him.

He calmly responds, "Well I selfishly forbid your entry to our kingdom so I decided to come see you personally. As for Vesta, since he's at fault for your exile I have decided to exile him as well. However, we can't have him having a carefree life so we brought him here to work for you."

Rimuru looks a little shocked and confused.

Rimuru, surprised, yells, "You brought him to work here!? Why!?"

Gazel says, "So you don't want him?"

I but in, saying, "No, it's not that, it's just, why so sudden with the reveal and why apologize?"

He says it's a courtesy. He was planning to execute him instead but decided just to put him to work instead. This caused Vesta to panic. Trying to get him to reconsider fails miserably, he has already made up his mind.

Shutting Vesta up he says, "I had high expectations for you but I no longer can allow you to work for me. That is why I shall put you to put your genius to good use here. I expect great results. Understand?"

He nervously says that by joining us he is leaking valuable Dwarven techniques to us.

He replies, "That is fine. With you three here (including Kaijin) this place shall become a center for technological development. That is why I am interested in forming a peace treaty with you. Also, before that as an under the table deal we would also like to offer a mutual technology research treaty. However, that treaty must never be mentioned to anyone outside this table.

How about it, do you two accept it?"

This shocks everyone, especially Vesta. King Gazel just casually offered to form a treaty with a monster town. Vesta finally shuts up after hearing this, finally getting the hint. He is then quickly dismissed.

After being dismissed he finally takes us up on the offer for discussion and follows us to the nearby building. Kaijin, Rimuru, Gazel and I walk into the building to discuss. The guards offer to follow him inside but he declines. After we are left alone I finally call him out, "You're really worried about the Bomb aren't you?" I smuggly say.

He asks, "Excuse me?"

I smile as I say, "My Bomb. The device I made that has the power to wipe out cities in one shot. That's part of the reason you were so quick to come here, right?"

He has a slightly nervous expression on his face for a fraction of a second before he quickly hides it. "I admit that is part of the reason I came but everything else I have said also still stands."

Guess he instantly knew he couldn't hide this fact after being called out. He is quite wise.

Leaning back on the chair casually I say, "Thanks for being honest. Don't worry about the Bomb. I would never use it on Dwargon unprovoked. Remember though, there's a keyword here. Unprovoked."

He says, "I see. I understand."

As we move on Rimuru asks, "If you're going to form a treaty, doesn't that mean you acknowledge the Jura Forest Coalition as a country with sovereign rights?"

He says, "Of course, quite the offer correct? Out of curiosity though, what shall be the name of this newly formed country?"

Way to throw it out of nowhere at us. Of course I already know the name.

I say, "Tempest, the Jura Tempest Coalition."

He thinks about the name for a bit, "Tempest, eh. Very well, I, King Gazel Dwargo of the Armed Nation of Dwargon wishes to form a peace treaty with the newly formed country of Tempest. Do you accept?"

I accept and wait for Rimuru to get over the shock from how fast this all happened. We have decided that we both need to agree on something to do something this big to avoid either of us getting carried away. After he gets over it he accepts the offer cementing it as official. Of course we still need official papers but it's basically complete. We stay in the building discussing the exact details and leave about an hour later.

As we walk out we inform everyone about what happened. I also call out Vesta.

He nervously asks, "Yes, sir?"

"Quite the change from lowly Slime, huh." He makes him jump a little, "I've got plans for you Vesta. I'll call you when I'm ready." This causes him to drench himself in sweat as I walk away.

The rest of the night ends up really fun. We announce the new alliance with Dwargon to everyone causing a massive celebration to occur. It even impresses Gazel with how quickly it's set up. We even end up having some wine I made in my stomach so Gazel gets drunk. Watching him when drunk proves to be really funny because he instantly loses his regal composure.

As the night draws to an end and Gazel sobers up a bit he decides to leave with the guards. Jeez man, haven't they ever told you. Don't fly a Pegasus after drinking, it's not a good idea. Before he leaves though he has one last request. A mock battle.

Rimuru remains quiet but I quickly accept pulling out my sword and getting into a battle stance. I could cheat with a [Genius] subskill called [Zero Time] which allows me to think in zero time I decide not to and make it fair. No though accelerating abilities. Even then, thanks to the crazy skill I got from copying everyone, especially Hakurou and Shizue I beat him relatively easily. I dodge his attack entirely and swing my sword stopping just shy of his neck. I will say though, in an all out fight I would have lost for sure.

This time Hakurou isn't around as Gazel already saw him in the celebration so he just leaves afterwards, quite impressed. With that it's about time the monsters go to sleep so I'll go back to my house for now and relax. I rarely actually spend time there which is a waste because it has a custom Slime shaped bathtub. It's so comfortable for my Slime self.. Time to take advantage now that I've got some free time.
