Dr. Michel gave Leo a small nod. She was responding.
Beside him, the second doctor quietly pulled open a small tray and began preparing a light calming injection. This solution was used for patients who entered shock and could not steady their breathing. It was not heavy medication. It was mild and safe, meant only to relax the nerves and stop the trembling running through her body.
"She will still need grounding," Dr. Avery said quietly, his voice gentle, never rising above Bella's uneven breaths. "Warmth, touch, steady breathing. Talk to her. She trusts only you right now."
Leo nodded once, his jaw tightening with worry as he shifted her closer. He rubbed slow circles between her shoulder blades. His other hand held hers gently, guiding her trembling fingers to relax.
"Breathe with me, Bella. I'm here," he whispered against her ear, each word slow and warm.
