The night sky stretched over Central City, casting a serene atmosphere over the unusually quiet streets. A sleek, high-tech car glided through the city, drawing occasional glances and murmurs of admiration from pedestrians.
Inside the vehicle, a couple sat in comfortable anticipation, their conversation brimming with excitement.
"So, let me get this straight—you struck a deal with A.R.G.U.S. and made millions of dollars?" Jesse asked, her voice tinged with disbelief, amusement flickering in her eyes.
"Yeah, that's basically it," Wally replied, his gaze fixed on her.
Eventually it wasn't long before they arrived at their destination. Arriving by the restaurant Jesse was immediately surprised by the high class fancy air of the restaurant. With just a few steps in she was already aware that a large sum would be spent here.
She cast Wally a worried gaze but remember his current dealings with Argus along with the look of encouragement in his eye. She swallowed her words and finally decided not to say anything.
"Your table is right this way". They were soon directed towards their seats by a well-dressed waiter who guided them through the elegantly decorated restaurant. Soft ambient lighting, the gentle hum of classical music, and the occasional clinking of glasses added to the refined atmosphere.
Jesse couldn't help but feel slightly out of place—she wasn't exactly one for lavish dining, but she appreciated the effort Wally was putting into the night.
As they settled into their seats, Wally smirked, noticing Jesse's subtle glances at the extravagant menu. "You don't have to worry about the prices, you know," he said, tapping the side of the leather-bound menu playfully. Her expressions were some what obvious.
She arched a brow. "I know, I know. It's just... different from our usual setting"
He chuckled. "Yeah, but I figured we deserved something nice."
The evening carried on without issue, and just as things were winding down, Jesse suddenly spoke.
"Wally," she said, catching his attention. He turned to her, curiosity flickering in his gaze.
"How would you feel if—when my dad wakes up—I told him I want to move to Earth-1?"
For a moment, Wally froze, his thoughts racing. His rational side took over, weighing the idea.
Was it really a good decision? Part of him wanted her to stay on Earth-1 with him, while another part wasn't so sure.
The reason was simple—his own flexibility. If Jesse stayed on Earth-1, he would have to sacrifice a significant amount of his time to nurture their relationship.
But that time was crucial for his growth. He needed it to refine his strength, to push his powers further. It wasn't just important—it was vital. It wasn't that Jesse wasn't a priority; she was.
But the circumstances weren't in his favor. If this had been before, he would have agreed to her idea the moment she suggested it. But now, with the looming threats confirmed, he couldn't afford that luxury. He couldn't be complacent. He had to train, to prepare—not just for himself, but to protect her and everyone else.
That was the only reason he hesitated.
As he searched for solutions, only one truly stood out—revealing his secrets and everything he knew. The moment the thought crossed his mind, he immediately discarded it. But then, he reconsidered.
Perhaps that was the only way.
The other option was rejecting her idea outright, but that came with multiple risks. First, everything they had built together could crumble, straining their relationship beyond repair. Second, she might suppress her disappointment, yet the strain would remain. And third—though an extreme scenario—she could decide to end things entirely.
There were other possibilities, but one thing was clear: no matter how he looked at it, rejecting her idea would ultimately lead to their breakup. And that was the last thing Wally wanted.
His heart ached for her. Letting go wasn't an option. He discarded the thought immediately.
The only option left was to tell Jesse the truth about what he had been doing, hoping she wouldn't reveal it to the team. A quick mental calculation told him the chances were low—but not zero.
As these thoughts raced through his mind, Wally sighed, shaking off the doubts that made him second-guess every decision. It was a double-edged sword. His rationality had almost completely taken over, and for a moment, he questioned himself.
"Will I become something else entirely in my pursuit of power?"
Though he pushed the thought aside, he didn't ignore it completely—he tucked it away in the back of his mind. Right now, he needed to focus on the moment at hand, his decision solidifying. Besides, he had been the one to suggest the idea in the first place. The thought of backtracking wasn't something he could accept.
Wally's thoughts settled, and the sluggish world around him returned to normal speed. He took a breath before speaking.
"Are you sure about this? I mean... your dad won't be happy about it," he said, his reluctance evident in his tone.
Jesse's response was immediate, her mind already made up. "I don't care what my dad thinks. I'm an adult—I can make my own decisions. If he wants to throw a fit about it, that's on him. I stand by my choice," she said firmly.
Wally couldn't help but chuckle at her conviction. "Besides," she continued, her gaze locked onto his, "I want to be with the one who makes my world go round."
They gazed into each other's eyes, longing reflected in their expressions. The moment lingered before Wally finally broke the silence.
"Okay," he said, a small smile forming. "It's a good idea. I'd be glad if you stayed—I can't stand being apart from you for so long."
"Me too," Jesse admitted. "I think about you every day."
With the uncertainty of their long-distance relationship resolved, their connection only deepened. Their smiles were brighter, their interactions more intimate, as if a weight had been lifted.
As the night stretched on, they eventually decided to call it a day. Returning to the car, Wally suddenly spoke.
"So, do you want me to take you to S.T.A.R. Labs, or would you rather check out where you'll be moving in advance?" Wally asked, a slight smirk playing on his lips.
Jesse paused, contemplating his words. Her thoughts ran wild. It didn't take a genius to understand the meaning behind Wally's suggestion.
Jesse's cheeks flushed red, and instinctively, she swallowed hard.
Her answer was clear. Compared to staying at S.T.A.R. Labs, a villa was the obvious choice. The beds at the lab weren't exactly comfortable, she reasoned, giving herself an internal excuse for her decision.
The drive back was quiet—almost too quiet. Though Wally didn't need to drive himself, he chose to, figuring it was better than just sitting in silence, staring at each other.
They arrived shortly after. As Jesse stepped out of the vehicle, she was momentarily taken aback by the sight of the building. However, the feeling quickly faded—after all, she wasn't exactly new to luxury.
"Do you like our new place?" Wally asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Yeah, it looks beautiful," she complimented, taking in the architecture.
"Right this way..." Wally gestured, leading her inside. Without missing a beat, he grabbed a bottle of wine, pouring them each a glass while casually giving her a rundown of the building's layout.
"This place is impressive," Jesse remarked, taking in the out-of-this-world features. It was a smart home on an entirely different level.
As she admired the space, Wally finished his wine and let out a yawn. He turned to Jesse, his eyes slightly heavy with exhaustion.
Wally stretched slightly, rolling his shoulders before meeting Jesse's gaze. "It's been a long day," he said with a tired smile. "Do you want me to show you to our room?"
Jesse hesitated for a moment, taking the last sip of her wine before shifting her focus to Wally. A small smile played on her lips as she bit her lower lip slightly.
"Sure, why not?" she said, her voice carrying a hint of anticipation.
Wally didn't need any more encouragement. Taking her hand, he led the way.
As the bedroom doors opened, Jesse took in the sight before her—a spacious, well-designed room with a king-sized bed and carefully chosen aesthetics that added a warm yet modern touch.
Then, the air shifted. The moment they stepped inside, an unspoken tension rose between them, charged and electric. The easy banter and casual teasing from earlier faded, replaced by something deeper.
Jesse turned to Wally, her gaze locking onto his. The soft glow of the room's lighting reflected in her eyes, and for a moment, neither of them spoke. Words weren't necessary.
