After a relaxing spa day, I descend into the basement. Daji looks full of the volcano massage oil now. She taps her foot impatiently as the elevator descends. "Those pukwudgies better not be there," she growls.
Refreshed, renewed, and ready for action, I grin. "Only one way to find out."
This time, Kryptosia is with us. If I were a pukwudgie, I would let her look wherever she wants to. But they make their own rules.
We walk single file through the basement. Wukong, Gram, Gramps, Tina, and Athena follow at a discreet distance. My head on a swivel, I inspect every corner for any shadow that looks out of place. None so far. All looks clear when we approach the door to the Collection.
After I open the door, Kryptosia goes in with her famous stealth, then whistles "all clear." Daji and I file in, followed by the others.
I ask Kryptosia, "Can you detect pukuwdgies?"
