Tens of thousands of people flooded the streets, no longer sporadic protests, but an angry tidal wave. They chained the main roads, flipped cars as barricades, and roared at the soldiers armed with guns, spitting at the riot shields as if trying to spit out decades of accumulated grievances.
The soldiers opened fire; not real bullets, but rubber bullets which can still blind you.
Tear gas filled the air, making people cry and snot uncontrollably, yet no one retreated. They coughed and charged forward, beating the soldiers' helmets with sticks, creating a muffled "bang bang," like tolling a death knell.
A mother holding a baby was choked by the tear gas, kneeling on the ground, the child crying heart-wrenchingly. She lifted her head and screamed at the soldiers: "Look at this! Is this the 'order' you're protecting?! Not even sparing children!"
Chaos spread like a plague.
