"Shirao is back?" Beitang asked Zhan Nanjue.
"Yeah." Zhan Nanjue replied.
Beitang asked again, "Where were you last night?"
"Trapped in a restaurant all night." Zhan Nanjue stated succinctly.
"Couldn't get through on the phone either," Beitang said.
"It was out of battery."
"What a coincidence."
"Isn't it?"
"Shirao didn't take her phone. I'm really worried something might happen to her," Beitang expressed.
"Beitang," Zhan Nanjue interrupted him, "Do you know who Shirao used to be close with? Probably someone around her age, or maybe a man a year or two older..."
Seeing his serious expression, Beitang thought for a moment and said:
"She went abroad with me when she was four, came back when she was about fifteen, and then stayed overseas for many years. I've never heard of any man being particularly close to her."
A complex glimmer passed through Zhan Nanjue's eyes.
