Chapter 33 - Chapter 33 - A Taste Of Something More.

Herbert Medical and Technology

The staff watched Blaze and Savannah, casting discreet downward glances, their eyes reflecting confusion and curiosity, yet nobody had the courage to inquire. Blaze grasped her hand and guided her, and she was so captivated by the touch that her attention remained solely on their connected hands

She was so affected by his touch that she lost track of when they arrived at the elevator entrance; Blaze pressed a button and they stepped inside, him still gripping her wrist. She glanced at the buttons affixed in the elevator, noting that he had pressed the 20th floor, and they remained motionless beside one another, her wrist still held in his grip that she couldn't pull away from or possibly didn't wish to release herself.

Once the elevator door opened, they stepped into an entirely different realm, a realm brimming with deep hues. As soon as the elevator doors opened, she spotted a vast bar counter situated directly opposite the elevator, exuding luxury with its black and gold color scheme.

Various beverages were showcased in glass cabinets behind the counter, beside it, and adjacent to the bar, while the ceiling featured a gold twisted design that added a cherry-on-top aesthetic to the entire floor. Blaze guided her to the large wooden door, similar to the one in the mansion, in Blaze's room.

When they arrived at the one certain door, he retrieved an item from his suit pocket and positioned it in front of a machine that displayed a green light. Blaze unlocked the door and they walked inside.

The interior of the room was ten times roomier than the other sections of the office she had observed thus far, featuring a couch on the left, a large wooden desk on the right side elevated slightly above the rest of the office with stairs leading up to it; doors and corridors also framed this vast office, leaving Savannah curious about their purposes.

They ascended the two stairs to the wooden desk,"sit." Blaze instructed, leaving her puzzled about who he meant. It seemed clear that it was directed at her, but her mind was blank. "Sit, Savannah," he repeated, and as she regained her composure, she took a seat in front of the wooden desk, which she suspected belonged to someone—Blaze's office? She thought.

Savannah shifted her gaze to their hands, as Blaze continued to hold her wrist.

A gentle smile appeared on Blaze's face as he emptied the paper bag and set everything in front of Savannah. "Eat your breakfast," he remarked while glancing at her, and she gazed at the organized meal displayed before her. The sandwich, blueberry pancakes, classic waffles, fresh toast, and coffee were all her favorites. How was he supposed to know that?

Savannah looked back at him, "You probably have things to do, so go ahead, I'll eat." She remarked, knowing how crucial the man had seemed earlier, that she didn't want to delay him further, "Not before you take a bite from each of them." He said as he reclined against the wooden desk that was in front of her.

"Blaze, I assure you I won't-" he interrupted her as usual, "Just eat." and she relented, realizing he was one of the most stubborn individuals she had ever encountered.

She was just about to take her first bite when a thought crossed her mind; she looked at Blaze, who was smiling gently at her "What happened?" he inquired after seeing her stop halfway, "Did you eat your breakfast?" Savannah had just realized he had rushed out with her without eating anything, "No, I'll eat lat—" this time Savannah interrupted him, "Eat with me." She remarked, "If you're not, then I won't eat either," as she set her cutlery on the plate and leaned back in the chair.

He observed her as the smile that lit up his face disappeared, no-one uttered a word for a moment, only silence remained, but then he said, "Okay, I would be delighted to share a meal with you." The smile returned to his face, adoring it.

Savannah offered him a brief smile as well.

"Go on, take your first bite," he said while holding out a fork with pancake on it, causing her to freeze in her chair. Her heart began to race for no apparent reason; it was a thoughtful act from a kind man, and Savannah sensed something developing within her. Her body became suddenly warm, and she realized it wasn't a good sign. She took the fork from his grip and shook off all the unnecessary thoughts that were entirely in her head, then had her bite.

The pancake was definitely good, distracting her from his eyes fixed on her

"I assume you liked it," Blaze commented, and she nodded in agreement; then he grabbed the same fork as her and, before Savannah could say anything, he had already shoved it into his mouth.

What is going on?

Meeting Room

All individuals sat anticipating the start of the meeting. Arthur, who was there as well, glanced at his watch and then at the door, anticipating his Boss's arrival. Half an hour had passed since he left, and one board member inquired, "Where is Mr. Baldwin?" as he grew weary of waiting-

"He'll arrive in five minutes."

He provided them with a specific timeframe although he himself was unsure if he would indeed reach in five minutes.

As Blaze entered the meeting room, Arthur let out a sigh of relief since his boss had just gotten there on time. Blaze took his seat at the head of the member's chair and signaled for the meeting to start. "Since we're all here, let's begin," one of the board members said. "I appreciate everyone coming on such short notice. We have obtained some concerning information."

"Alex, can you update us on the current situation?"

"Undoubtedly, we have noticed several cases of extortion occurring in the last week."

"Someone is requesting a substantial amount of money to refrain from revealing confidential company details," Alex stated. While Blaze heard them, he furrowed his brows. "Could you explain how these requests were conveyed?"

"Did any particular threats get issued?" Jordan voiced his thoughts.

"The requests were communicated via anonymous emails and phone calls. Risks involved the disclosure of private data, harm to our firm's reputation. We have linked several of the emails to an identified hacking group, but we have not been able to determine their precise location." Alex communicated all the essential information he learned to his superiors

Conversely, Blaze remained seated in silence. "This is quite alarming; what actions have we implemented up to this point?" Jordan requested a thorough evaluation.

"We've introduced extra security protocols, including enhanced network monitoring and heightened encryption; our IT team is focused on identifying the source of threats and protecting all sensitive information." Alex completes his statement.

Jordan leaned forward at the round table, saying, "We need to carefully consider our options from a legal perspective. Paying the extortionists could create a risky precedent, and it may not ensure that they will cease their demands. Making a payment could also heighten demands or prompt additional threats." He highlighted the key aspects of this issue

Everyone remained quiet as they contemplated it; they were unwilling to take any chances. "What should we do, Mr. Baldwin?" Jordan inquired when he was at a loss for a solution. "I'll take it from here," Blaze remarked, adding "you all have no tasks."

They ought to have felt relieved, and they do, but they were surprised that Mr. Baldwin appeared calmer today than on other days, as they've all witnessed him furious when events like this occur; so what happened today? He appeared completely composed.
