Callum's expression grew serious. "Bad enough that Dorothy wants to evacuate half the town to secure locations. Good enough that Marcus convinced her we're safer making our stand here, together, rather than scattering and becoming easy targets."
"He's good at that," Samantha observed. "Taking control of chaos."
"He's had a lot of practice," Callum replied, moving into the nursery and settling on the ottoman near the rocking chair. "Though I have to admit, watching him dominate a room full of panicking supernaturals and humans while wearing pajama pants was unexpectedly entertaining."
Kai snorted. "He maintains his authority even in flannel. It's impressive."
"It's hot," Samantha corrected, then caught their expressions. "What? I'm allowed to find my mate attractive while discussing defensive strategies."
"No arguments here," Kai agreed. "Though I'd argue all four of us are criminally attractive in crisis situations."
