Delilah held her father's hand as they stepped out of the courtroom after the divorce had been finalized thanks to Claudia for using her connections to expedite the process.
Delilah and Jessica flanked their father, who looked tired but somehow lighter, as if someone had taken a heavy bag off his shoulders.
Just outside the courthouse doors, Claudia was standing near a column in a neat cream dress. Chloe stood beside her, wearing dark sunglasses and holding her phone like she was bored.
Claudia's eyes met Ned's first, then flicked to Delilah. She gave a small nod. "I'm glad you're doing fine now, Delilah," she said softly.
Delilah smiled and nodded back. "Thank you so much. It's all thanks to you."
Chloe slipped her sunglasses down her nose a little and looked at Delilah and Jessica with a tiny smile. "Well, congrats to you two. Now you don't have to think of me as your annoying stepsister anymore," she said without malice ignoring the disapproving look her mother shot her.
