After dinner, Hunter, Delilah, and Madam Quinn rode home together in the back seat of the limo.
Madam Quinn sat opposite them, her hands folded on her purse. They talked about the Hamiltons and Sabrina's wedding plans and after a while they were all silent.
Delilah leaned against Hunter, holding hands. She could feel the older woman's eyes on her every now and then, gentle but thoughtful, but Madam Quinn didn't speak. Each time their gaze met, she'd smile at Delilah.
When they pulled up in front of Hunter's house, Hunter got out first and helped both of them down. The air outside was cool and smelled faintly of night flowers.
As they walked inside, Delilah was about to follow Hunter to his room when Madam Quinn touched her arm lightly.
"Darling," Madam Quinn said with a little smile, "will you walk me to my room?"
"Of course," Delilah said softly.
She slipped her hand through Madam Quinn's arm, and they walked together slowly down the long hallway.
