It was the following day in the afternoon, and everyone was busy getting ready for the party—except Khai. He was chickening out, claiming that he had a bad stomach ache, but I knew his trick from when we were freshmen, and I was not falling for it ever again.
"Oh! You do?" I said, pretending to fall for his trick."Yep, it hurts so bad. I don't think I can make it to the party, but it's fine. Go on without me," he said, making his way back to his room.
"Phew! You had me worried there, thinking your presence would disturb me from shipping Team with other guys. It's good that you're not going—it works best for me," I said, holding back my laugh when I saw his reaction. He ran back and said he felt better, promising he'd be done in 5 minutes.
An hour passed waiting for him, and he was still not ready."Five minutes? It's been an hour since he went to get ready, and he's still not coming down. Ai Khai! The party is starting! What the hell is taking you so long? Are you putting on makeup? It's not like everyone there is going to be looking at you. Ai Khai!" Top shouted as he went upstairs to get him.
They finally came down, and then we left for the party—but we were late, and the party had already started.
We arrived and went to Bas to wish him a happy birthday. Then Can suggested we join. I was sitting next to Top, Bas sat next to Can, and Khai was shaking to death sitting next to Team.
Most of the guys in college used to say I was a beauty queen and often shipped me with Top, so he used that to make Bas jealous by sitting next to me and acting all cozy. It worked. Bas was so jealous that he left.
I wasn't going to let this jerk use me to hurt my favorite baby's feelings, so I pulled him to the side by the ear."Are you crazy? Why did you do that?" I asked, still pulling his ear, then left to check on Bas.
Top drank too many shots—so many that he couldn't even remember where he put his phone. He started shouting how much he loved Bas, but it was too late. Bas was already taken by Can. He even said he was going to marry him and have many kids with him.
I just had to take a video of it. How else was I going to force him to tell Bas the truth?
While we were busy dancing, he disappeared to the men's room. I figured he'd be back soon, but he was taking longer than he should. I started to get worried, so I asked Khai and Xiao Zhi to check if he was okay—but they couldn't even stand up on their own. So I went to check on him myself.
I knocked at the door—because obviously, it would be weird to just enter the men's toilet—but then I heard a commotion inside, so I went in.
Top was on top of some guy, throwing punches. I rushed in and pulled him away. People came running to see what was going on. I helped Top stand up so he could tell me what happened, and it turned out the guy he was punching had tried to take advantage of him.
Now the tables turned. I was the one who needed to be held back, because I was going to kill that motherf**ker if no one stopped me. I escaped from Top's grasp and threw two punches at him. If it wasn't for Xiao Zha and Wen Zhin, that guy would be dead.
Zha Zha helped Top to the car while Wen Zhin went to apologize for the commotion on our behalf."Why are we leaving? We still have to celebrate Bas's birthday!" I protested, hoping they'd let me go so I could finish that guy off.
"There's no way we're letting you go. We know you're going after that guy to finish him off, and we can't let you do that. We've already disrupted Bas's special day as it is. We can't afford to make P-Helix Club a blood pool. We're leaving after Wen Zhin returns," she said, hinting to Khai to keep an eye on me while she looked for Xiao Zhi and Wen Zhin.
I didn't make any moves because I felt bad for causing a commotion at Bas's birthday party. She came back with them, and we got into the car and left.
I thought after all that drama they'd be sober, but nope—they were still drunk as hell. I had to listen to their terrible singing all the way back to the house. Now I understood how Zha Zha felt whenever I got drunk. Maybe that was why she was able to put up with their off-key mess.
But that wasn't the end of it.
We finally arrived home after 30 minutes of torture, and just when I thought it was over, we had to carry them to their rooms.
There and then, I swore I was never going out with them again—because if they got drunk like this again, I might just kill them.
After we helped them to their rooms, I went to the kitchen to get something sweet to get rid of the sour taste in my mouth. On my way to my room, the lights went out. Then I heard a door creak open.
When I looked back, I saw something wearing a white oversized dress, standing in the doorway of the guest room. The window was open, the wardrobe flung wide, and the sheets inside were blown up to the ceiling—making it a perfect scene straight out of a horror movie.
Knowing exactly what happens next in these situations, I stared at the thing in the doorway. She pointed at me.
(Aaaaaahhh!) I screamed and ran straight to Top's room, slammed the door shut, and locked it."Oh hell no! I ain't sleeping alone after what just happened!" I said, climbing into his bed. I popped in my earbuds and started playing sleep hypnosis, because that was the only way I was sleeping after that.
And just like that—I was gone. Fast asleep.
