"There are many dangers in the mystical world that I have to personally deal with…" Strange spoke calmly, his gaze unreadable beneath the folds of his cloak.
Aiden nodded with a dry scoff. "Well, good on you. But we need you in our physical world now."
He stepped forward, arms crossed.
"The Time Stone. Where is it?"
Strange narrowed his eyes slightly. "This must be about the danger I've been sensing... Why do you want the Time Stone?"
Aiden blinked, then turned to Carol. "Hello? Has nobody told him?"
Carol stepped in with a nod. "Earth is on the brink of invasion. The Mad Titan, Thanos, is coming. He already has four Infinity Stones, and now he's after the remaining two—including yours."
Strange's expression darkened. "When?"
"Soon," said Carol. "A week or two at most. Could be any moment now, for all we know. He has the Space Stone—he can arrive at any time, any place."
Strange looked back to Aiden, voice firmer now. "And what exactly do you want the Time Stone for? It's safer under my care."
Aiden raised a brow, sighing. "Is it? I don't know... I just thought, being the strongest entity on this planet, it might be safer with me."
Strange didn't flinch. "I know more of the mystic arts than you do, Aiden. This stone is dangerous. It requires precision, restraint, and understanding. Not raw power."
Aiden's expression twitched with irritation. "And you think I can't manage that?"
He exhaled, forcing his tone to steady. "Sheesh… I'm getting too worked up. Listen—we need it to locate the final stone. The Soul Stone."
Strange stayed silent.
Aiden continued, "Valeria thinks she can analyze the Time Stone, get inside the fundamental resonance of the others through it. Understand them at their core. If we can do that, we can find the Soul Stone's location—and maybe even get a lock on Thanos."
Strange tilted his head slightly, his fingers curling under his chin. After a moment of pause, he replied.
"I will help with that. But I cannot—will not—hand over the stone. It must remain in my care."
Aiden's lips curled in a humorless smile. "Whatever. You're coming with us, then. There's a lot more you'll need to know."
He turned and started walking away, his voice trailing behind him.
"Just don't vanish again. This time, the world's depending on you."
Strange glanced at Carol before following, silent and thoughtful. Somewhere deep in the folds of his robes, the Time Stone shimmered faintly inside it's compartment, almost as if it, too, knew what was coming.
...
Inside one of the reinforced labs beneath the new SHIELD complex, a strange silence hung despite the hum of advanced equipment. Mystic glyphs shimmered faintly across the steel walls, a delicate balance of science and sorcery binding the room.
Hovering above a secured containment platform, held between arcane runes and quantum stabilizers, floated the Time Stone.
Valeria stood closest, her fingers tapping furiously on a floating screen filled with shifting data. Across from her, Gwen adjusted spectral scanners, her eyes flickering between visible wavelengths and magical interference patterns. Beside her, Wanda sat cross-legged, palms lifted slightly as runes spiraled gently around her fingertips. At the far end, Strange simply watched—silent, observant, cloak twitching with unease.
"No matter what algorithm I input, the signal doesn't behave like anything we've ever recorded," said Valeria, frustrated. "Even chaos particles make some sense. But this? It bends under observation. The deeper I analyze it, the more it slips."
"It's like it knows we're trying to understand it," muttered Gwen. "I swear I saw a quantum reaction pre-trigger before I even activated the pulse."
"Magic doesn't help either," said Wanda, her brows drawn tight. "I've cast six different types of divination, tried pulling on its weave—but it loops me back. Like it's… refusing to be known."
Valeria exhaled and stepped back from the console. "We can't trace something we can't even comprehend. I can feel it though. The signal—it's… familiar."
Gwen looked up. "Familiar?"
Valeria nodded slowly, puzzled. "Like I've seen it before. No—felt it. But that makes no sense. It's alien… ancient. Yet it's like it's echoing in my DNA."
"So what, it's traceable but unbuildable?" Gwen asked.
Valeria sighed, "Exactly. I know it can be followed, I can see the imprint. But I don't understand the mechanism well enough to create a tracer. It's like trying to sculpt water."
The doors hissed open.
"How the rock understanding going, Girls"
Aiden stepped into the room. His gaze scanned the space once, then locked onto the floating Time Stone.
He stopped.
Then froze.
Eyes widened. Expression hollowed.
His voice came out hoarse.
"…This… IS...… What the fuck."
Everyone snapped to him.
"Aiden? What's wrong?" Valeria asked, confused.
He didn't answer her.
Instead, he turned his head slowly toward the group and said, "You didn't hear that?"
Carol narrowed her eyes. "Hear what?"
Then, a voice, old, resonant, cosmic...echoed in Aiden's mind.
"No, you fool! They cannot hear me. Only you can… Isn't that obvious?"
Aiden blinked, his jaw tightening.
"Guys… uhm…" he started, raising a hand toward the stone, "For some fucking reason, this rock is literally talking to me."
Wanda stood immediately, "What?"
Valeria stepped forward, eyes wide. "It's talking to you?! Does that mean it's sentient?"
"I'm not a rock, you damned fool! I'm your brother! Have you truly not realized yet?"
Aiden's voice cracked in disbelief. "You are my what?"
"You still do not understand? I am Time. And you… you are Soul. We are brothers."
they all watched Aiden in Silence as Valeria spoke
Valeria's eyes flicked between Aiden and the hovering stone. "Well? What is it saying Aiden?"
Aiden turned slowly. "…It said it's my brother."
"WHAT?!" echoed everyone at once.
Valeria nearly stumbled back.
"What do you mean?!" she asked, voice rising. "What does that mean?!"
"I don't know!" Aiden shot back, baffled. "It said it is Time… and that I am Soul."
Gwen's brow arched. "You are Soul?"
Wanda whispered, "Could it be…?"
Valeria suddenly gasped, her eyes flaring with realization. "OH MY GOD!"
She turned to Aiden, breathing heavily. "I get it now!"
Aiden raised a brow. "Get what?"
"That signal—that power—I recognized it because I've seen it before! Aiden… it's you! The same cosmic imprint you emitted when you fought Galactus… the same energy you used in Dragon God state."
She pointed to the stone, eyes shimmering with discovery.
"This thing… It resonates with you because it's part of you! Or at least… the Soul Stone is. That's why we can't find it. It's not hidden on Earth, or some faraway place—it's with you. You are it. The Soul Stone… it's you, Aiden."
The silence was deafening.
Everyone stared at him.
Aiden, now visibly pale, blinked slowly. "…Well… this just became fucking strange, didn't it?"
