Rowan's pov:
" What! Are you telling me that you didn't actually died,it was a plot you developed with your friends? Really?". I asked shocked.
I don't think I have a heard a more shocking thing all my life. I was conflicted.
I was happy that my son didn't die and the next person that came to my mind was Xandra. I had tortured her for nothing, the first thing I felt for her was guilt then pity.
I figured she didn't know her beloved is still alive,how would she feel if she knew? I can't imagine it.
I already zoned out that I didn't hear what Max said next.
" Are you even listening to me?". He literally screamed.
" Huh? Ah,yes. My son". I stood up and hugged him with tears falling from my eyes. I never knew I love him that much until I lost him.
He was the disobedient son who wouldn't listen to me so I thought I hated him but it was otherwise, I loved him the most. I realized it after it was too late, and I couldn't rectify my mistakes again.
That's why I hated Xandra and held her responsible for the guilt I felt. Knowing that I've been given one more chance to redeem myself, I was so glad that I couldn't help my tears from falling.
" Rowan,are you crying? Really?". He said when he heard me sniffled while hugging him. I felt embarrassed and pulled back.
" Call me father". I requested in a hoarse voice.
He looked visibly taken aback.
" What? I couldn't hear you well".
" I know I told you not to refer to me as your father anymore and refuses even when your mother asked you to. But I've revoked my words. You can call me 'father' as much as you want".
He went silent for a while and his eyes reddened with unshed tears. I felt bad.
" Father?". He called hesitantly,it sounded like a question.
" Yeah that's right,son". I patted him.
" Father". He called more loudly and hugged me. I hugged him back and let my tears fall freely.
Authoress pov:
I know everyone is curious as to why the purple-eyed man holds that huge of a grudge against Xandra. I plan to rewind back to the past and we would find out what happened.
This particular man in question goes by the name Pascal. He had a girlfriend called Ashley whom he loved very much.
Ashley had a sister called Josephine. In those days,the most disgraceful and shameful thing that can happen to a maiden is to get pregnant out of wedlock.
Both sisters found out they were pregnant right about the same time. They couldn't tell their partners and were at a loss on what to do.
Josephine suggested they abort the pregnancies behind their partners back. That way,no one would know about it and they would be spared the shame and bad name. Ashley agreed.
They made an appointment with a local doctor and picked a day to carry out the procedure.
When that day came, something came up for Josephine so only Ashley went. But due to insufficient medical tools,they couldn't control it when she started bleeding badly,so she died of loss of blood.
That was when Pascal found out what had happened. He was very furious and looked for Josephine to ask for an explanation but Josephine already ran away as soon as she found out her sister died in the theatre so he couldn't find her.
Josephine ran away to another city out of fear and guilt. She also couldn't bring herself to abort the pregnancy anymore out of fear of dying like her sister.
But she met a doctor who gave her a suggestion. The doctor already performed an ultrasound and found out the foetus is female.
The doctor suggested that he help her transfer the foetus to a woman in need of a female child. That way,at least the child will survive even if she didn't make it and she could even be lucky to survive.
That way,she won't lose on both ends. She weighed the option and decided it's better to follow the doctor's advice,she wouldn't lose no matter what happens.
Whether fortunately or unfortunately,she survived the surgery but became brain dead. So she was just as good as dead, maybe a little worse off.
And as of now, no one knows the whereabouts of Josephine or even if she's still alive or truly dead. Her whereabouts remains a mystery.
Pascal later found out what happened and he was furious that Josephine's child survived while he lost both his lover and his child. Since then,he held a grudge and promised to make the child's life worse that his dead own.
After searching for a long time, he found the family who gave birth to Josephine's child but they already lost the child. He thought the child was dead until Drey found his long lost sister.
So he wants to make sure Xandra pays for her mother's sin and live a life more painful than his.
