Ambition!
Greed!
Eris had never concealed her true desires. She was that kind of goddess—greedy and consumed by envy. In the original stories, Eris was driven by a boundless hunger for power and madness, directed even toward the highest God-King, and she had never backed down.
It's fair to say without exaggeration:
If it weren't for the fact that Eris's parents were Erebus and Nyx, two Ancient Gods known for their deep devotion to their children, she would have undoubtedly met a tragic end in those stories.
After all!
As an ordinary goddess, provoking the God-King was a death sentence if one didn't have the proper backing. Anyone with even a shred of common sense understood this.
The price to be paid would be lethal.
And now!
Here stood Eris, unwavering in her loyalty to the Lord of the Underworld, Hades. As the Goddess of Discord, her devotion to Hades was unquestionable. She followed him faithfully.
At the same time, Eris was also a gambler. She understood that the odds of success in her choices were incredibly slim, but! As long as there was a chance, Eris would go all in without hesitation.
Even if she failed, what then?
Clearly!
The answer was simple—failure would just be failure. She didn't care. Today, Eris wanted to see exactly what failure could do to her.
Death?
At worst, her divine body would be destroyed. Her divine soul, imprinted in the hands of her master, wouldn't perish. Moreover! With her father, mother, and Hades as her backing, who would dare try to kill her?
In light of this, Eris made her choice. If her divine body were destroyed, the worst outcome would be that she could never advance further. Or perhaps! It would take countless years to rebuild her divine body.
But these were minor concerns for Eris. She wasn't afraid, not even in the slightest! In fact, she had already considered that even if she ended up becoming a warrior of the Underworld, what difference would it make?
It didn't matter.
All these outcomes were just consequences of failure. Even if her future path were completely cut off, Eris didn't care. As a gambler, she knew that standing here meant making a choice.
She'd bet everything on one gamble!
If she succeeded, the rewards would be astonishing.
The position of God-King!
If Eris succeeded, she would trample that path beneath her feet. Don't doubt it—this was something she could absolutely achieve. For that reason alone, how could she possibly give up?
The opportunity is within reach!
There was only one chance. And if she succeeded, it would be guaranteed.
Of course.
No one knew Eris's thoughts. Or even if Hades, Erebus, or Nyx—the three gods closest to her—understood her wild ambitions, they wouldn't have expected her to be this crazy.
Obviously!
No one would have imagined her to be this reckless.
But…
It didn't matter. Madness? Then so be it! After all, the facts were laid out in front of her, so she might as well see what the outcome would be.
This was the harsh reality. No matter what, everything was already in place. There was nothing more to say.
As far as Eris's family was concerned, if she wanted to act, then let her act. What could possibly go wrong? Clearly, nothing could stop her. That was the pride and confidence of the Underworld.
And this!
This confidence and pride would never disappear.
As the Heaven Realm prepared to take action and everything was about to begin, the entire Mythical World also began to spiral into chaos.
In fact!
The age of chaos was truly about to start.
After all!
As the gods interacted and observed that the Mythical World was taking no direct action, one by one, they began to go wild.
This was no joke.
Initially, everyone just tested the waters. If they succeeded, great! If they failed? Well, it didn't matter. After all, no one faced real consequences, and nothing was truly lost.
The races they had created were insignificant. Failure was just failure—it wasn't a big deal.
However…
Now things were different. To be precise, everything had changed. The Mythical World had not intervened, meaning:
This was proof that all their actions were allowed. And if that was the case? It meant they could genuinely vie for the main role in the Mythical World!
Just thinking about the possibility made the gods' eyes gleam with excitement, sharpness flashing in their gazes.
Clearly!
The gods realized that the Mythical World was permitting these moves. In other words! The Earth Goddess had indeed changed the rules, and since that was the case, no one would hesitate.
Come!
Let's begin!
Today.
They would see for themselves. The opportunity was right before them. This was a chance to ascend to greatness—who wouldn't seize it?
Could anyone…
Give up such an opportunity?
Impossible!
Absolutely impossible.
That was the thinking of the gods. After all, if their chosen protagonist became the leading force in the Mythical World, what kind of ascension would they experience? The answer was obvious.
They would rise directly to the level of Ancient Gods. And this was the only opportunity to do so—the one and only chance for success.
A next time?
Heh heh...
Impossible!
There would never be another chance like this. Remember, this was the only opportunity. No matter what, there would never be a second chance. Given that, they would go all in.
Let's see how it plays out. Who knows what the final outcome will be?
One thing was certain:
The gods knew that waiting would seal their fate. But if they gambled everything, and won, what then? The gods would not openly fight in the battles between races.
But with this opportunity, as long as they were prepared in advance, everything could begin. This was the best possible chance, wasn't it?
