"Thank you," Aurora said and her eyes truly were grateful.
"You don't have to thank me at all. You being alive is more than I can ask for," he replied with a gentle smile but she could not accept that as she continued.
"I know it was not easy and it is highly likely that you have lost something precious to you. I won't ask what is it but I really want you to know that I will do anything in my power to fulfill whatever you shall ask of me without fail. I mean it," she said with a determined tone.
Alaric was shocked on how she could know of such a thing but he could only thank it to her sharp mind. It was true that he lost something precious to him and that thought made him clench his fist again. He was not going to rest until he got revenge for Sarah.
He knew the law of the universe probably better than Aurora could and he knew of the law of give and take. The system he had activated was something the universe did not tolerate nor accept. This was because it was too huge a loophole in the universe's laws.
The system Alaric had was something that could bypass the laws of the universe. There were many things that Alaric was introduced to too early that he should not be aware of and he had been able to awaken them. If the system continued to exist, it was highly likely that Alaric could become an anomaly.
This was because he would be able to gain an advantage others didn't have. He was introduced to things such as presence and instinct abit early. Skills like stealth and others that he should have developed slowly, he was able to awaken them prematurely.
This means he already had a headstart that others did not have. One could only imagine the implications that the existence of the system would have to the general laws of the universe. It would be a joke if he could just go past the laws unharmed.
One more thing being that this life of Alaric had been planned before in his past life. He had created the system to guide him through a set of events that would help him get stronger faster and ascend the immortal realm.
If the system continued to exist, he would have everything go as he had planned. The universe though was not willing to let such a thing happen though. The Immortal King was someone who had the power that was close to the one the universe held.
A person who had the ability to command the universe to do as he pleased. Though the restrictions on the Immortal King were strict by the universe, if he wanted, he would bypass these restrictions.
The universe was not ready to have that being in existence yet. That was why it had to stop Alaric and somehow even managed to kill him halfway before he even started his journey to his rise. One could think that it was Alaric's will that had helped him survive during the fateful night but that was not the case and Alaric was yet to realize it.
What saved him was the wisp of Will that was left by the Immortal king in his past life when he was creating the system! This was also proof of how much of a loophole the system was. Alaric would have died on that night but he had survived due to the existence of the system and he was even able to awaken the Soul which the universe, ironically, had no choice but to reward the feat!
That was one of the instances that had a major implication on the laws of the universe. The second was the time Alaric was fighting Joan. On that day, he was unable to even stand on his feet and was on his last breath and it was at this time that something no one was aware of happened.
Sarah was an existence created by the Immortal King when at his peak and it had the ability to speak with the universe directly and this was also the reason why it was able to bypass the universe's laws. It made a deal with the universe that it would offer itself as compensation for making Alaric stronger.
The Blood Essence from Meryl was used up completely and also he was able to have an increase in his body cultivation. The other thing that the two struck was that Alaric would be able to harbour the soul of a Supreme which was unheard of!
But the universe agreed because the consequences of the existence of Sarah was more dire than the consequences of Alaric having a Supreme Soul. Sarah then was destroyed by the universe or so one would think.
But that was not the case, Sarah was Alive but she was held captive in the universe. She had fizzled into nothingness but that was her been broken down into the least of its atoms and left to exist in the world.
Sarah's existence was too profound that even the universe did not dare to desyroy it for the consequences of destroying something like that could lead to disaster.
The same for Alaric's past life where he had been killed but the consequences was the Soul being hidden away to never be discovered. Sarah's destruction would not be dire but since it had an ability to communicate with the universe, it only meant that the previous Immortal King before his death was able to link them together!
No one knows what the consequences would be. What the universe did was to make these parts of the system to merge with the parts of itself that had the same function and strengthen itself.
This meant that there was a tighter leash on the laws of the universe as they were strengthened! These changes were yet to be discovered but soon they were going to surface. One could already tell that there was a reason as to why that was happening.
That day when the Sarah sacrificed herself, she was not aware of the existence of another powerful being than Joan. Had she known, she would have realized the universe's plot.
Though Alaric was able to harbour a Supreme Soul, that was the end of the deal and though it was a loophole, the universe would be more than happy to have him dead. The white robed man was what the universe was backing on in order to erase Alaric. The loophole in their deal!
If one were to think about it, they would realize that even though Alaric had enemies in the present and he was bound to make more in the future, he had one enemy who tried to kill him even during his birth.
That enemy was the universe. Alaric and the universe had a deep enmity that ran deep than just trying to stop him from being powerful. This only meant that Alaric's journey forward was only going to he tougher as he was going to fight against the giver of the strength he seeked.
Alaric got strong so fast and it was obvious that his foundation was not consolidated. He had to consolidate his foundation first and find out what changes had taken place. He had not gotten the choice precisely because he had other things to take care of first.
But after he was done, he would see them off and try to consolidate his foundation. Also, getting stronger was not going to be his first priority. What he needed was to get familiar with how to his strength.
He looked at Aurora his gaze profound and unreadable.
"I never blame you anything like losing something precious. It may have been precious but you are more precious to me than what it is that I lost and you do not have to blame yourself. I just hope that you won't forget your words," Alaric said with an evil smile appearing.
Aurora was not sure what he was talking about but she recalled that she had promised that she would do whatever he asked her to do. Looking at his smile, she could not help but feel a cold sweat trickle down her armpits.
Just what kind of trouble had she gotten herself into. But she braved on and spoke calmly not letting her thoughts run wild.
"I will do anything you ask me to," she replied he gaze resolute. Alarics smile just grew more evil and a grin appeared on his face.
He patted his thigh as he looked at her. His gaze guiding her to look at where his hand was patting. Aurora looked at his lap where his hand was patting. She then looked at his gaze that locked onto her eyes. She could hear the gaze speak to her;
"Come." Was what it was saying.
She knew that he was up to no good and his actions right now was proof to that. She wanted to refuse but she had said the words twice and she could only swallow as she released the blanket.
She then pushed the blanket away and sat up, her feet landing on her sandals...
