Chapter 6 - Bridge of understanding

Months had passed. Ki and Zephyr were talking.

"Is she okay?" Zephyr asked.

"Well, there's no use worrying about her. We can't do anything in this situation," Ki replied. He checked every corner, yet he couldn't find any weakness in the cell. "Putting that aside, I still can't get over that lady. Man, she is like the girl in my dream. That slim body, that beautiful face."

Zephyr stopped when he realized that Ki was staring at him. Ki was getting irritated hearing this from Zephyr. Then the door once again opened. The lady was back, and Zephyr once again watched her with amusement. The lady stopped at their cage and talked to them, but this time in their language. Both were shocked.

Going back when Septh was taken away. Septh was dragged into a room full of books and candles. The lady in the blue dress and a maid with braided black hair and glasses were talking in a language Septh couldn't understand. The maid glanced at Septh and then back to the lady. After their conversation, the lady in the blue dress left. The maid was just staring at Septh, not knowing what to do. Septh was quietly watching her.

The maid took a sip from a glass of water. Only then did she get an idea. She raised the glass of water in front of Septh. Septh understood what she wanted to say and spoke.

"A glass of water."

The maid, who was staring at her, put down the glass and took out a note and a quill, then wrote something down. The maid left and came back after some time, bringing many items with her. She raised a ball in front of Septh. Septh answered.

"Ball."

The maid threw the ball away. Septh answered again.

"Throwing a ball."

The maid wrote something down, and through this slow process, they began to understand each other. Weeks passed, and Septh found her situation oddly familiar. She was treated the same way her family treated her.

Septh grew up in a strict family. They educated her about respect and dignity. They disciplined her, and she had to do everything her parents told her. If not, she would face punishment. One day, she met Ki. When Ki and Zephyr learned about Septh's situation, both charged to Septh's house. Septh tried to stop them, but they were persistent. They confronted Septh's mother. Her mother saw the bravery of the two and their care for her daughter, despite them just being seven-year-old boys. She allowed Septh to hang out with the two but with a condition. She had to keep her grades up, and if she couldn't do it, she would have to say goodbye to Zephyr and Ki. But Septh was confident and accepted the condition.

She found her current situation similar to her past, following orders from others. After a month of effort, Septh gained their trust, and they let her roam around the castle freely, though she was not allowed to go outside. The maid finally understood Septh. They were learning the structure of Septh's language when Septh mentioned.

"What happened to my friends?"

The maid stopped writing and glanced at her. She put down the pen and note and faced her.

"You want to meet your friends?" the maid asked.

Septh nodded slightly. The maid sighed and answered, "Fine. I can ask the king, but on one condition." An image of Septh's mother appeared in her vision. The way the maid said those lines was the same as her mother. "I want you to participate fully until it ends."

The maid's accent was quite funny but understandable. Another month went by, and Septh's participation paid off. Her request was finally approved. The maid led her to a room and made her wait there. The room was silent. Her heart was beating fast. Lots of thoughts were in her head. She couldn't wait to finally meet her friends.
