Chapter 4557: Even Supremes Are Just Pawns
The cross domain grand array was refined in total silence even Fire Chenzi, who was in the formation, did not realize that the array had changed hands. Lin Moyu was adept at this process there was no difficulty at all.
By now, eight of the twelve grand arrays in the Primal Chaos Wilderness had been refined. The ones remaining included the cross domain array between the Central Region and the North Pole, and the arrays in the North Pole, Upper Realm, and Lower Realm.
The arrays in the Upper and Lower Realms were no big deal; the upper, middle, and lower realms were all on good terms, predominantly human, and had frequent interaction.
The North Pole, however, was different. Its Supreme had his own plans and was at odds with Calamity Supreme last time Lin Moyu went, he hadn't gained an advantage.
Luckily, with the Hidden Spirit Pearl, returning would now be much easier. Unless the North Pole Supreme himself guarded the array, his avatars wouldn't be able to detect Lin Moyu.
As for those two quasi supremes they could be completely disregarded.
When the cross domain grand array was activated, Fire Chenzi opened his eyes yet discovered nothing unusual. Nobody came, nobody left, so how could the array have just activated?
"Strange could something be wrong with this array?" Fire Chenzi muttered. In the depths of his eyes, a flame flickered, turning into thin red lines. Unconsciously, he was becoming less willing to think things through.
The entity from the depths of the Primal Wilderness had begun affecting all of chaos; living beings throughout the chaos were changing, becoming restless, more prone to violence.
This was a universal influence regardless of how deep your cultivation, you still felt its effects. The only difference was that those with stronger Dao hearts changed less and more slowly, while weaker willed ones changed more drastically. The process had only just begun; it would soon be more obvious.
As the "ghost" that triggered this, Lin Moyu teleported from the core of the array back to the Central Region.
He arrived in Linnan City in the Leaf Region, which was heavily guarded. When the array was activated, several Perfection level experts turned their attention to it but no one emerged, so they were puzzled.
Nobody went and nobody came. Did the formation just transmit air?
Using the Hidden Spirit Pearl, Lin Moyu left Linnan City and headed for Wangnan Border. Close to Wangnan, he withdrew the pearl and used his status as Grand Elder of the Central Domain Divine Alliance to enter.
The teleportation array in Wangnan was closed at the moment, but as Grand Elder, he could use it. At the local Alliance branch, he caught up on current events, then teleported to headquarters, and from there set out for Wangbei Border.
For reasons unknown, Lin Moyu felt an increasing sense of urgency; chaos would soon erupt in a major way, so he needed to finish refining the arrays as quickly as possible.
He also needed to advance his cultivation, solidifying his foundation while doing so, and push Silverlight Rabbit to nurture its own domain.
All of this had to happen simultaneously none of it could be neglected.
Even though he suspected Calamity Supreme had even greater schemes, and that he himself might only be a pawn in it, Lin Moyu had no choice but to keep playing the part. He knew he was a pawn, but still had to battle inside the game.
Someday, he would leap from the board and turn on the player himself.
"If my suspicions are right, then I am a pawn, no doubt. But which Supreme in the chaos isn't?"
"With the entire Primal Chaos Wilderness as the chessboard, Calamity Supreme truly impressive."
He gave a cold inward chuckle, considering the current state of chaos.
The North Pole had gone to war, not with the Central Region, but with the Upper Realm Divine Alliance.
The fighting was intense; the Upper Realm side wasn't adept at combat and couldn't match the savagery of the North Pole's natives.
But their teamwork was strong; after a long fight, they'd dragged the frontline deep into the North Pole.
Without a cross domain array, the North Pole would struggle to counterattack.
Lin Moyu thought all this fighting was merely small scale skirmishing.
If the war kept escalating, it would ultimately come down to the Supremes themselves.
When a Supreme took the initiative, every previous effort was overturned.
Their victories and losses would directly determine the fate of each domain.
Still, Supremes almost never fought to the death at most, a few symbolic exchanges.
Only some quasi supremes had true life and death duels, even resulting in actual deaths.
When they fought, even just the aftermath claimed countless lives.
If a Supreme went all out, it would be much worse.
That's why top level power like the Supremes or quasi supremes almost never truly clashed. That was the history of chaos but this time, Lin Moyu sensed something different.
Something from the depths of the Primal Wilderness might change what was once unthinkable.
The North Pole acted. The East Pole was restless and, by present trends, would soon move too.
Eastern Supreme Jiuyue and quasi supreme Jiuri the sibling pair were at odds with both Calamity Supreme and the Old Man in Green, so they wouldn't stand idly by; they were only waiting for their chance.
West Pole hadn't moved, remaining on guard. The Central Region returned the caution.
Lin Moyu teleported to Central Region headquarters and, upon exiting the formation, saw Mu Tianze waiting for him the scene almost exactly the same as last time.
Mu Tianze's aura was even more steady than before he was now only a step from becoming quasi supreme.
"Alliance Leader Mu, waiting for me again?" Lin Moyu greeted him.
Mu Tianze smiled, "Indeed, waiting for Elder Lin as always."
Lin Moyu asked, "What for this time?"
Mu Tianze replied, "Didn't you go to the North Pole? How come you returned from the South?"
He'd used the Central Domain's array; the Hidden Spirit Pearl might conceal his aura, but his ID would still be logged he couldn't hide it from Mu Tianze, who could check exactly when and where he traveled.
Lin Moyu said, "There was a mishap in the North Pole; I was diverted through a spacetime tunnel straight to the South and got held up before returning."
"How long were you in the South? Did you notice anything?" Mu Tianze asked.
Lin Moyu hesitated. "What do you mean?"
Mu Tianze explained, "We've been fighting the South Pole for decades and noticed something strange someone has been collecting blood and soul fragments from the battlefields."
So that was it. Lin Moyu said, "I know what that is some North Pole folks are responsible."
Mu Tianze raised an eyebrow. "And why would they do that?"
Lin Moyu asked, "Have you heard of the North Pole's ancient mysterious place, the one many want to enter?"
Mu Tianze nodded, "I've heard a little, but only supremely powerful and quasi supreme beings know the details my status just barely lets me overhear."
Lin Moyu said, "Several up north want to use the blood and flesh of living beings as a sacrifice to open that place."
Mu Tianze was visibly taken aback. "So they're collecting blood and souls, but who knows what's inside there…"
Lin Moyu simply smiled and shook his head he certainly wouldn't admit that he'd actually been inside.
At that moment, green light flashed before his eyes and someone stepped out…
