Chapter 4321: Chaos is So Vast, I Wish to See It
In Pang Qi's city, someone suddenly called Lin Moyu's name. The voice was all too familiar, leaving Lin Moyu slightly surprised.
A moment ago, he had been focused on the arena and didn't notice anyone approaching.
Turning his head, he saw the Sword Emperor of the Spirit Demon Clan, striding forward with a group of his clansmen behind him.
The Sword Emperor's cultivation had risen to half step Chaos Realm, clearly a breakthrough made after leaving the Origin Continent.
That was to be expected. He had suppressed his own advancement for many years on the Origin Continent; once outside, his delayed ascension came naturally.
Lin Moyu smiled faintly.
"So it's Daoist Sword Emperor. What a coincidence to meet you here."
But the Sword Emperor's face was cold and ugly, his eyes brimming with fury and even hints of killing intent. His voice was ice:
"I never imagined I'd meet you here."
Lin Moyu kept smiling lightly.
"It's been many years. That I've transcended now is not strange."
The Sword Emperor snapped in anger:
"If you had remained hidden away in your domain, I could have done nothing about you. But since you've come out, I will not let you go!"
Still smiling, Lin Moyu replied coolly:
"Why such rage? I don't recall doing anything to wrong you."
The Sword Emperor snorted.
"The day we were forced to leave your domain that was your trickery, wasn't it?"
Lin Moyu shook his head slightly.
"Daoist Sword Emperor, you should understand one thing clearly. That was never your domain. Why is it strange that you had to leave?
"And don't forget what you secretly did inside that domain."
The Sword Emperor's expression shifted, for Lin Moyu spoke truth. That domain had never belonged to them. They had indeed been stealing Dao essence from within.
But his shamelessness prevailed.
"If not for us, your domain would have perished!"
Lin Moyu's smile vanished, his gaze turning cold.
"You know why you came into my Five World Domain. You weren't invited, and I didn't beg you. If you have resentment, go lay it upon the one who drove you there don't seek to blame me.
"And besides… do you dare?"
His tone was sharp and frosted through, utterly dismissive.
The Sword Emperor's expression darkened further. What Lin Moyu said was undeniable. They had stolen. And now Lin Moyu was the Domain Lord. That made every essence, every inch of the domain his possession. Their theft had been a trespass in his home. Did they expect gratitude rather than anger?
The Sword Emperor trembled inwardly. He thought of what might stand behind Lin Moyu perhaps even a Supreme Realm existence.
How could they provoke such a backer?
True, they had been forced out at outrageous cost. But what recourse had they? Even if they had been wronged, there was no high court to complain to in Chaos.
The Sword Emperor roared:
"You promised me once… promised you would kill Tunyuan with your own hand!"
Lin Moyu chuckled.
"Yes, I promised. But I never said when."
"You !"
The Sword Emperor froze for a moment, realizing he had been outplayed. Lin Moyu had indeed given his word but left the time vague. A promise with no deadline wasn't binding.
Lin Moyu waved a hand.
"No need to waste more breath. It's true you helped guard my domain for years. Which is why, even knowing you stole Dao essence, I refrained from wiping you out. Otherwise, I could have left you buried in that domain forever.
"I drove you out, nothing more. And now you come looking to settle accounts with me? Tell me which of us is the unreasonable one here?"
"As for Tunyuan's appearance that was an accident. But you, Spirit Demon Clan, a Chaos race, couldn't subdue a creature not even in Chaos Realm? That is entirely your own failing."
Each word stabbed like a blade.
The Sword Emperor's face twisted, pale with rage, yet he could not find any retort. He knew Lin Moyu was twisting logic, but he also knew he could not win the exchange. And with Lin Moyu's potential backing… to push further could be suicidal.
At last, the Sword Emperor snorted violently.
"Hmph. We're leaving!"
With his clansmen, he departed quickly. Their fury was clear, but in the end, they were powerless to act against him.
Only then did Pang Jing speak.
"Daoist Lin, do you wish us to intervene?"
Lin Moyu shook his head.
"That won't be necessary. We fought alongside each other once. I'll grant them one last chance. Next time, I will deal with it myself."
Pang Jing nodded respectfully.
"As Daoist wishes. Should you ever need aid, simply call."
Her courtesy was increasingly cautious, almost excessive. She had surely received new instructions since earlier. Her demeanor now was not the same as half a day ago.
The festival crowds swelled, filling arenas and streets alike. Some queued for combat. Others just watched for the spectacle.
Pang Jing guided Lin Moyu around the fighting platforms, toward other areas.
The Three Phoenix Festival saturated the streets with celebration. The Divine Phoenix Clan put all their specialties on display and for sale.
Chaos trade operated in two ways: barter, or using Chaos Gold.
Chaos Gold was a special material formed of compressed Chaos Qi, easy to absorb, far more efficient than ordinary Qi.
Lin Moyu had none. Therefore, Pang Jing quietly slipped him a considerable supply, enough to indulge minor purchases and trinkets.
He sampled local Phoenix delicacies, exquisite and unique. Other clans also sold goods: one notable was the Primordial Lizard Clan.
Their tails were valued materials for crafting, prized by smiths. And since their tails could regenerate, they cut and sold them for profit, exchanging for treasures or Chaos Gold.
"Selling themselves…" Lin Moyu mused, intrigued by such a practice.
As they wandered, Pang Jing shared more knowledge.
Lin Moyu at last confirmed: they were indeed in the Central Domain, on its far eastern side.
Chaos was divided into four poles and three great domains.
The central areas of each were claimed by Supremes. Other races lived only on the fringes.
Traveling from one domain to another required two methods:
The slow way: crossing on one's own. Either through direct flight or with artifacts, using natural channels as guides. These channels kept travelers from becoming lost. Leave the channels, however, and one could stray into Ancient Wastelands: perilous, chaotic regions filled with dangers, illusions, and traps.
The fast way: Supreme arranged cross domain teleport formations. These were immensely costly to use, enough that a single transfer might wipe out the savings of a Chaos Great Completion cultivator.
But expensive or not, the benefits were enormous. These arrays bore traces of Supremes' Daos. If one caught insight within, it could transform their cultivation.
Hence many willingly paid the price.
Pang Jing finally asked,
"Daoist Lin… do you intend to go to another domain?"
Lin Moyu did not deny it. His gaze swept the boundless sky.
"Chaos is so vast. I wish to see it with my own eyes."
Pang Jing nodded, smiling faintly.
"Indeed. But if you would go, do so before you reach Perfection Realm. Once you do, all realms are closed to you."
Lin Moyu raised a brow.
"Why?"
She sighed softly.
"By decree of the Supremes, Perfection cultivators from beyond a domain are forbidden entry. Not long ago, one tried to sneak across and was nearly slain."
Lin Moyu thought at once of Mo Lan. His brow sharpened as he asked quickly,
"Nearly slain? Then he escaped?"
Pang Jing nodded.
"It is said he did, though how, none know. If Daoist Lin wishes clearer details, you should ask our City Lord."
Lin Moyu glanced forward. A smile tugged his lips.
"As it happens he's coming now."
