Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

White

It was all he could see, illuminated by no light source yet still bright enough to see the expanse

It had no beginning and it had no end, Herne unconsciously buckled his legs, waiting for a fall that would never come

A strange vortex opened behind him, sucking him inside

"Huh?," Herne exclaimed

"Welcome soul to the muti-verse agency, my name !!!!, I will be helping you through the procedure." An entity exclaimed in front of Herne

Herne proceeded to look around, he found himself in an interrogation room, like the one he saw in movies with his Nor...

Leaving the thought behind, he looked towards the entity Infront of him, it didn't look human, it was a man in 1 moment, a woman in the next, one of the most prettiest woman he every saw, and the next moment it turned into black sludge inside a human clear body

It's voice, so tempting yet so repulsive, so sweet yet filled with venom

"Who are you." Herne inquired

"As I said, my name is !!!!, I am here to assist you with your Afterlife." Responded the entity

"I see," Herne replied

"So what happens now?, it's my first time being in a situation like this, Haha." Joked Herne to lighten the atmosphere

"Well, procedure would be to erase your memories and send you to a new life, however one of the higher-ups has taken a keen interest in you, so I am here to give you 2 choices, 1. You can proceed with the normal procedure and 2. You can go to a new world, with your memories intact, and a boon from your sponsor." Explained the entity patiently

"I see, and what would my so-called sponsor like in return?," Herne asked

"Unfortunately I cannot disclose that information, my lips have been sealed, however there is 1 thing I can tell you, Your Oh-so sweet Nora will be in the same world, but she doesn't have her memories" replied the entity in a mocking manner while chuckling in their demonic yet so angellic voice

'This seems to good to be true, I need to find out my so-called sponsors motives, what do they want with me? Should I choose the first option?, or the second one?' thought Herne

"I'll take the second option, can I get a meeting with my benefactor?," Herne chose hesitantly, still unsure of his decision, as he felt suspicious of this whole situation

"Bravo!!, Unfortunately you canno--" Replied the entity but was intercepted by the door being opened, in walked a being made of pure light, you could not discern their features, no matter how hard you tried

"Hello Herne, my name is !@!*!'!, I am the one sponsoring you, nice to meet you," Said the pure being kindly in an angelic voice, while going in for a hand shake

"Nice to meet you as well sir, May we talk privately? I have some questions I would like to ask, If it's not a bother of course," Replied Herne respectively

"Not at all, let's take this somewhere else" Replied the entity in a kind tone, as they turned around and gestured Herne towards the door

As Herne and the pure being walked out the door, the being in charge of Herne's afterlife stared emotional-less at the cold table, with a coin in their hand spinning around, before they slamed it flat with their palm before a half smirk made it's way on it's face

"This is going to be fun," Mused the entity while cackling, before Laughing like a maniac

'Oh how fun it is going to be watching his face when he finds out who he actually is, I almost pity him,' thinks the entity with a palm over their face

Meanwhile

As Herne and the entity walked out the door, they were met with an abandoned train station, with a dark green steam train toppled over, in the same yet so different white limbo

Thousands of thoughts going through Herne's mind, ways to find Nora, thinking about his past life, his moments with her, his moments with his agency, the ups and down in his life

As the entity and Herne were walking in a tense silence, the entity decided to break the awkwad and tense silence

"So, you may be wondering what I get out of this, I am terribly sorry however I cannot tell you as of this moment, what I can tell you however is, what I am doing is for your own good, I would suggest you take the second option, and be reunited with your Nora once again," replied the light being in a kind tone

"I understand that, trust me I do, but if the Nora doesn't have her memories, how will I find her? And she won't even recognize me, what if-" Herne said in a worried tone, as he looks around and sees some flowers growing in between the train track

"Now now, don't be worried, destiny always has its way, you'll find her through one way or another, destiny is a powerful thing after all" said the light entity in a kind fatherly tone, as he looks at the moss growing around the train

" Just one more thing, what do you get out of this? I am just a random soul, we don't even know each other, at least I think so," asked Herne

"As I said before my friend, I cannot tell, but all will be answered in due time, be patient my friend," Said the entity in a reassuring way

"Alright, so when do I get to my world?," asked Herne

"Well, we just have to decide what to do with your karma, and then you will be good to go," said the light entity as they arrived in front of door at the end of the train station

The being proceed to knock at the door and they waited patiently

The door was opened by a woman, her face hidden in a grey veil

"Welcome !@!*!'!, and Herne to my abroad, How may I be of service?," said the woman in a neutral tone

" It's nice to meet you again Ma'at, it's been a long time since we last met," said the light entity in a kind tone

"Indeed it has old friend, a bit too long indeed," replied the woman, now named Ma'at

"Indeed, I have come here regarding this young man, I want you to equalize his karma for a reincarnation," explained the light being

"I see, its been a long time since HIM, nevertheless I will proceed, follow me young man," gestured the woman towards a red curtain

'This is too fast, what is even happening here? I am getting reincarnated, At least I get to meet Nora again, wait, she doesn't even know me now, is there a way for her to remember me? Is it even possib--" Herne finally having some time to think

"We have arrived," Said the woman before she pulled the curtain open

Beyond the crimson divide lay a vast expanse, shimmering with the hues of a thousand dreams. Herne's heart raced as he stepped closer, his thoughts spinning like the vortex that had brought him here. He glanced back at the light being, who stood beside him with an encouraging nod.

"Through this door awaits your new beginning," the woman named Ma'at announced, her voice carrying the weight of ages past and futures yet to unfold.

Herne hesitated, his mind a whirlwind of uncertainties. Could he truly leave behind everything he knew? Yet, the prospect of a world where Nora existed, even if she didn't remember him, pulled at his heart with an irresistible force.

"What lies beyond?" Herne asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"A chance," Ma'at replied cryptically, her eyes behind her grey veil, twinkling with ancient wisdom. "A chance to rewrite the detiny of your soul, to rediscover who you are and who you are meant to be."

The light being placed a reassuring hand on Herne's shoulder. "Trust in destiny, Herne. Trust in the threads that bind us all."

With a deep breath, Herne stepped forward, through the veil of red, into the unknown that awaited him. The light enveloped him, wrapping around his form like a warm embrace. In that moment of transition, he felt a surge of hope and determination.

As the curtain fell closed behind him, Ma'at turned to the light being. "Do you think he will find his way?"

"He carries the essence of resilience," the light being mused, a smile playing on their lips. "In time, he will understand."

Together, they watched the fabric of reality ripple and settle once more, leaving the abandoned train station silent yet brimming with unseen possibilities.

In the realm beyond, Herne's journey had only just begun, a journey of rediscovery, love, and the unbreakable bonds that spanned lifetimes.
