Chapter 1 - Assassin

Everything was hurting, and my head was pounding. As I opened my eyes I realized I am in the dungeon. "Great" I muttered as I take in the smell of shit, piss, sweat, blood and vomit. Groaning I stand up, wobbly at first until I get my footing about me. I scan my surroundings, there has to be a way out.

Then I hear foot steps coming from the left where there is a slight flicker of light coming by the stairs. An arrogant ambiance start thickening the air around me. "Little vixen, I hope you find your quarters inviting" as he comes closer I can tell he is a vampire, and not any vampire but the prince. See I'm an assassin and I was brought here for a pretty penny to take out his father but I was caught. I've never been caught. Anyways, this smug prince comes closer and I can just make out his shiny fangs. "Oh yes, love the 'rotting corpse esthetic' its so... clique. " I roll my eyes because can vampires get any more original?

"Listen little vixen, I am Prince Vanderbilt of CroxI and I did not come here to dally with you. I may seem merciful right now but I promise I will make you beg for death. Have you ever been a blood bag for a vampire? Cause I can tell you its the worst way to live." He chuckles

I gulped, because yes I've heard of the gruesome stories of woman being blood bags and not only are they to give their host their blood but also their body. I maybe an assassin but I know when to play my cards right.

"Telling by your elevated heart rate our reputation proceeds us." He chuckles while looking at the two guarding next to him who also chuckle. "And besides I also know where your encampment is." He eyes go darker.

"Okay and I'm supposed to care?" I try to seem indifferent but if he really knows where it is then Aleasia is not safe. She is the only person I have and I can not lose her, but if I admitted that he'd have me right where he wanted me and no way I'd give him the satisfaction.

"Well, I hear a deal coming into play?" I ask but I know hes not just tell me this, to tell me this. He would have killed me by now if that was the case, or made me a blood bag not just threaten me with it.

"Well, just cut to the chase kind of girl, I knew there was something special about you." He smiled really big and looks at me with a gleam in his eye. If I was a normal girl I would be very threatened by this entire encounter, but I'm not normal and I've stared down men way more frightening then him. I wait for him to go on cause at this point hes pausing for the theatrics.

"Your skills are impressive " he presses " I have to say in my 500 years of living I've only seen a handful of people battle the way you did. Good thing I was anticipating you or you could have very well snuck through the cracks." He chuckles, I cross my arms getting frustrated at him gloating "You see, you may be of great use for me. I won't kill you and everyone you know in exchange you kill one man for me."

I wait, pondering on his words.

"How do I know you will keep with your end of the deal?" I asked

"A blood oath, you see little vixen, when a vampire makes a blood oath they mustn't go back to it or it is a bad omen on him, a vampire will be compelled to carry out this oath whether he likes to or not. I do not do these lightly, and they take alot of magic." He smiles Wickedly "Do we have a deal vixen?"

I plundered on the though weighting it down.

"Will I also feel compelled to carry out the order?" I asked

"Yes" he said matter of factly, though the glean in his eyes became more menencing.

"You will let me out? And not harm anyone?"

"Yes" he said forcefully, I felt he had a trick up his sleeve.

"Who is it?"

He picked lint off his petty coat looking bored now. "Just the Lycan King, Ceallaigh"

My eyes widened. "You want me... "pointing at myself " to kill the literal king of entire southern region?"

"Yes, and dont worry hes looking for a wife, you just go into his ball and catch him off guard, but if you're not up for it then I guess you will make for a lovely collection of blood bags I have accumulated over the years" he chuckles.

"Fine I'll do it." I was mostly doing it cause I couldn't imagine Aleasia becoming a blood bag to, and if its anything I've learned from vampires is they do not make idle threats.

"Why am I killing him?" I asked

"Because I'm tired of being secluded to the northern regions, beyond that is not your issue, do as your told." He says leaving no room for arguing, but being the person I am I love to argue. "Well, I cant very well walk into a ball with piss and vomit all over me can I?" I question. I can tell he is loosing his patients but I dont care its a valid point.

"I will send for the maids to come clean you up and I will send for the witch to do the blood oath." And with that he starts walking away.

"Nice doing business with you!" I call out only to cause more annoyance. He stops for a second and then continued to walk away.

One more job, just one more job and I will return to camp and get Aleasia and we will run so far away. To where I dont know because I've tried to run plenty of times but they always find us, but this time I'm better than I was. This time me and her will get away even if I have to kill everyone in the whole god forsaken world. I close my eyes for a spit second. Ever since I can remember I've been training to become an assassin. My

captors took me when I was 5 years old and Aleasia was 3. She is my sister. They burned our village down. Killed everyone except the childern. They turned us into killers. Now at the age of 20 and my sister is 18 we are all we had. When we battled and got cut, beaten or sore we patched each other up. We were taught not to love, love got you killed. Love was a weakness. There we had to survive. We had to kill. He gave us an order and we followed it out. He never gave us his name we called him 'master' and to him we were just numbers. Based on our sectors 1,2,3,4 and 5. I was in sector 2 and my number was 11. The sectors was based on your skill. I only had a few more training and assassinations before I made it to sector one. The food was better. The more you proved to him the better you were treated. My sister was in sector 5. She did not like following the rules and hated him more than anything and was caught leaving the sectors more than anyone. She had been whipped each time and each time I patched her up. I kept telling her to wait until I made it to sector one. That I would figure us a way out but she never listened. No matter how many times she was whipped she never lost her fight in her. The fire in her that I saw with every defiant act only pushed me harder to get her out cause one day she was gonna push him so far that he was going to kill her.

As I sit back down on the cold dungeon floor I hear a jingle of keys. I couldn't have been that lost in thought that I missed someone coming down the stairs...

"Of hunny I'm a sprite, I blicked here. Don't be frightened, I'm here to clean you up" she said cheery.
