The air was electric with tension, the oppressive darkness of the night bearing down on the battlefield. Akaza's stance was firm, his grin wide and wild. This was it—a battle between two warriors whose only goal was to push each other to their limits.
Akaza was the first to move, launching forward with a speed that would blur to mortal eyes. His fist shot toward my chest, the air around it distorting from the sheer force. I stepped into his attack, meeting his punch with my own. The impact cracked the ground beneath us, a shockwave ripping through the clearing as dirt and debris erupted around us.
The force sent us both sliding back, though neither of us faltered. Blood dripped from my knuckles, the skin briefly torn from the impact before rapidly healing. Akaza licked a stray drop of blood from his lips, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
"You're strong," he growled, launching into a flurry of strikes. His fists were a blur, each punch aimed with lethal precision at my head, chest, and abdomen.
I moved with calculated efficiency, weaving through his strikes and countering with my own. My fist connected with his ribs, shattering them with a sickening crunch.
Akaza retaliated instantly, driving his knee into my stomach with enough force to rupture several organs. Pain flared briefly before my body healed, the damaged tissue knitting itself back together in seconds.
Akaza laughed, a sound filled with exhilaration. "You don't even flinch. It's like fighting a corpse that refuses to die."
"Pain is meaningless," I replied, my voice as cold as the air around us. "Show me what you can really do."
He roared, his aura flaring like an inferno. His strikes became heavier, each one carrying enough power to shatter boulders. I let him land a punch squarely on my chest, his fist tearing through muscle and bone. My ribs cracked and splintered, but I didn't retreat. Instead, I grabbed his arm, twisting it with enough force to dislocate his shoulder. The sound of bone snapping echoed in the darkness.
Akaza grunted, his regeneration kicking in as he wrenched his arm free. He retaliated with a spinning kick that caught the side of my head, the force of the blow sending me skidding across the battlefield. My skull fractured, blood pouring down my face, but the pain barely registered. By the time I stood, my wounds were already healed.
"You're relentless," he admitted, his tone filled with begrudging respect. "But that's what makes this fun!"
He lunged again, his movements more feral but no less precise. His fists and feet became a whirlwind of destruction, striking with a rhythm that was as chaotic as it was deadly. I matched him blow for blow, the sound of our clash ringing out like thunder.
One of his punches broke through my guard, his fist slamming into my abdomen and tearing through to my spine. The force left a gaping hole in my torso, blood and viscera spilling out. Akaza's grin widened, but his satisfaction was short-lived as I retaliated with a punch to his jaw, dislocating it with a sickening crack. My body repaired itself even as I fought, the hole in my chest closing in mere seconds.
"You're insane," he said, his voice muffled as he reset his jaw. "But I like it."
The ground beneath us was stained crimson, a testament to the ferocity of our battle. My strikes began to find their mark more often, each one leaving deep gouges in Akaza's flesh. His regeneration struggled to keep up, his movements slowing slightly with each exchange. Yet, his resolve never wavered.
He drove his fingers into my shoulder, tearing through muscle and bone. The limb hung uselessly at my side for a moment before I ripped it free from his grasp and delivered a crushing blow to his side with my other arm. The force sent him flying, his body crashing through several trees before coming to a stop.
Akaza coughed up blood, his chest heaving as he stood. "You…'re incredible," he said, his voice ragged. "I've never fought anyone like you."
"And you're holding back," I said, stepping toward him. "Stop playing games."
His grin returned, feral and full of excitement. "Alright. Let's see how you handle this. [Blood Demon Arts]."
