Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Showdown

Seeing as this huge beast was still in deep sleep. Thrain had enough time to come up with a plan, after formulating explained to Thorin. They repositioned themselves on the opposite side of each other, Monkey in between them. Thorin then charged at the boar while Thrain lowered his body further. Leaping into the sky he brought his sword down on to the head of the monkey.

As his blade made contact with the monkey, it slid down with a loud metallic screech. Thorin looked back to see no visible damage, he backed up as the earth around him started to rise.

A loud yawn echoed out as the monkey rubbed its eyes. When Thorin reached a safe distance he observed the monkey. It roughly four times the height of Thorin, with a refined darker skin on the front while the back was covered in a softer, more messy fur. Thrain made the same observation as he dashed in. Still in a half asleep state the monkey didn't notice Thrain's approach, reaching the base of its leg Thrain breathed out while he focused his blade. Aiming for its calf he stabbed. Piercing straight into its leg. Quickly retreating as a huge fist came down on him Thrain yelled out, "It's as smooth as butter!".

Thorin thought for a moment as he leaped back in and catching the monkey's attention. The monkey flailed its arms around as Thorin dodged here and there. On its final swing its arm was thrown back slightly fast, building up more momentum as it swung back. Thorin immanently tensed, becoming statue like. The strike landed, however it came to a halt. Thorin's muscles relaxed as he wrapped his arms around the huge arm. "NOW!". Thrain sprung into action as he zigzagged through the snow, leaving a lightning bolt like trail. A bit before he reached the monkey he leaped into the air with all his might as he aimed at the soft side.

His blade entered the back of his neck, only exiting after reaching its foot. The creature squirmed a bit before face planting forward, burying Thorin in the snow.

"ACHOO!" Thorin shivered as he had a thick pelt covering his body. "It was only a bit of snow" his brother teased. Despite Thorin's ailing body they continued deeper into the forest, eventually reaching the back wall of the cavern. Following it around they reached the grass zone. Once again fighting humanoids, leaches and lions on the short journey back to the cave.

The boys didn't talk much both knowing that the final floor could very well be their last. They truly believed they could do it, despite the doubts in their hearts.

Two days passed giving Thorin enough time to get back into peak condition. "Should have worn more layers" his brother said as Thorin hit Thrains arm, this was the fourth time Thrain had brought it up.

They made there way through the jungle, reaching the wall then crossing over to the lava zone. Standing in front of the door the boys couldn't believe how far they had come they had scene so many new and mystical thing. Thorin reached out and hesitantly grasped the door handle as he slowly pulled it open.

A cool wave of air rushed out, giving out a sense of relief amongst the fiery air. Thorin headed in first, Jeremey following behind, Thrain entering last.

The stairwell they walked down felt impossibly long. Thrain noticing that he is less out of breath than usual I guess I am getting more use to physical activity.

Taking the last step off the staircase felt as if they crossed into another world. The air getting thinner and colder the closer they got to the heavily decorated door. The door was embedded with serval different gems and metals .

Thrain was in awe of the design of the door as Thorin unconsciously knocked on the door. "Thorin! You idiot!" As Thrain backed away from the door. "There's no way the boss is seriously going to just open up the door" Thorin laughed at his brothers reaction, as he rested his hand on the door. "Here we go!"

The door opened up without struggle or a hint of sound. Thorin took a step into the room. Instantly lights all around the room sprung into action lighting up the entire room.

Sitting on a throne in the centre was a person covered head to toe in pristine iron armour, with a sword imbedded into the ground beside him.

Entering behind Thorin the other took a step inside.

Bang!

The doors behind them slammed shut, the knight twitched a bit before being animated. Rising from its throne the knight locked its eyes on Thorin. Cracks could be seen on the ground were the knight once was as it now dashed straight at Thorin.

Thorin dashed backwards as he grabbed his sword. The knight threw a straight punch once it was within reach. Thorin lifted his sword to block the anticipated punch however the straight punch was a fake as another punch came wrapping around the blade landing on Thorin's side sending him back a bit.

The knight following up with what seemed to be the same combo. Thrain noticing this swung around the opposite side and as the punch was about to make contact with Thorin, Thrain thrusted his blade at the knight knocking it off balance. The flow of battle changed as Thorin raised his sword and slashed down followed by a rising slash. Pushing the knight back, giving the boys time to breath.

The knight tried once more, dashing at Thorin except this time just as he was about to hit Thorin's prepared block he turned to his side and pushed off the ground with force leaping at Thrain. The knights hands Forming something akin to a sledge hammer. Discerning that the force behind the attack would likely not end well for him he dodged backwards. The floor crumbling under the weight of the attack, sending dust everywhere. Seizing the opportunity Thrain countered, attacking with a flurry of blows.

The knight blocked and deflected each and every blow. The force of the blows though was enough to push the knight back to the centre of the room. The boys took a second to catch there breath. Both of them realizing just how difficult this was going to be.

A second later, the knight grasped the sword releasing it from the ground. The knights speed seemingly increased as he appeared right besides Thorin. Slashing straight at him. As the blade was about to cut through Thorin he felt his legs collapse.
