[Chapter Size: 2400 Words.]
Third Person POV
Great Britain.
...
...
Severus left more than one press briefing answering questions about the portal and the army of shadows.
Then, he left the Ministry, but did not go far from that area, heading to one of the buildings already close to the Ministry itself. He was looking for that particular person he had not seen at the Ministry or at the press conference; he went more specifically to the place where Steve kept his office, at least when he was still an investigator.
Severus expanded his magic rapidly, trying to find him while searching through the entire building, including the secret places, in search of Steve's room, which was also hidden. Until, finally, he found it.
The place began to tremble and, suddenly, a new floor emerged in the corridor where Severus was. Doors rose toward the ceiling while others emerged from the floor. There was the entrance to the apartment that Steve had managed to materialize, forcing its existence through Severus's magic.
Severus entered the place.
Everything looked the same as always: books on the shelves and scattered around, a table in the center of the place, but no sign of anyone. There were papers on the table, and Severus approached. That seemed to be an important report, yet there was no sign of Steve; neither through magic could he detect him, nor even with his own eyes.
After all, he did not fully trust only his magical detection when it came to that guy, but still there were no traces of that person.
There was no one there or even around London.
Severus then moved closer to the papers. Many reports from the Pasquim and newspapers from yesterday and today were spread across the table, especially the most recent ones, talking about the portal and reporting how the military forces had retreated today after Severus made the army of 100 thousand shadows disappear.
At the same time, the questioning about Severus was stronger than ever. Of course, he had already answered many things in the reports, but he imagined that many more articles would still arise about what had happened.
Severus set the newspapers aside; looking for Steve seemed useless now. This frustrated Severus, but something soon caught his attention. There was a report from the space agencies issued just a few minutes ago still on that table, as if it had been placed there on purpose.
The comet had finally been seen. It was advancing toward the planet at that exact moment.
"Damn…", Severus murmured, narrowing his eyes. In the next instant, he simply vanished from the place, not caring about anything else.
In the blink of an eye, Severus had shot toward the United States, appearing at a military base with a massive landing explosion that caught the attention of everyone in the building.
He emerged from the smoke with his cloak whipping against the wind, but he cared about nothing except what he needed to do, heading straight for the entrance with light steps.
"W-who are you?", the soldiers shouted in English, quickly aiming their rifles as they stammered with a strong American accent, staring at the man who walked toward them without showing the slightest fear, even after falling from the sky like a meteor.
Severus said nothing.
He merely moved his hand in a simple gesture, making the rifles fall to the ground instantly and leaving the soldiers stunned. One of them, in desperation, pulled the pistol from his holster and pointed it at Severus, firing as he believed him to be a threat.
The bullets, however, stopped in midair as they got close to Severus, remaining suspended.
Severus's telekinesis held them with ease. He did not even bother to look at them. He simply kept walking, forcing the doors open by sheer will as he advanced into the base. Behind him, the bullets remained suspended for a few seconds before falling to the ground with small sounds of metal against the concrete floor.
The soldiers stared at the scene, terrified. The one who had fired looked back and forth between the bullets scattered on the floor… and the gun still trembling in his hand.
"Code twelve, code twelve. Level one threat has appeared in the building." The radio was activated by one of his colleagues, while the base quickly received the alert and began to move after Severus fell from the sky.
Severus saw the building begin to be surrounded by soldiers. Some advanced through the interior, while others positioned themselves outside, calling for reinforcements.
Those in the lobby stared at him, stunned. There were not only soldiers, but also agents and scientists in lab coats.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?", asked a man dressed entirely in white.
Severus did not care and headed for the stairs. A line of soldiers appeared at the end of it, blocking the passage down the corridor, aiming rifles in his direction. He merely stared at them and kept walking. None of those bullets could do anything to him. It all seemed like a children's game.
But he acted differently; he teleported and left an illusion in his place, until it began to fail and vanished, flickering a few times.
"He disappeared!?", the soldiers shouted, stunned, while Severus continued advancing behind them at the same pace, heading toward the elevator and entering it.
The soldiers were still searching for him when, suddenly, they looked back. One of them pointed and shouted upon seeing Severus already inside the elevator, just finishing pressing the button for the top floor, as the doors closed.
They waited for the elevator to rise to the top floor, but soon realized they could not let him continue. The elevator stopped midway on the second floor.
Even so, Severus simply disappeared, turning into a shadow on the floor. He moved out of the elevator, passed through the ventilation ducts, and continued to the top floor.
Then, he materialized again, emerging from his shadow and appearing in the main room, where several men in ties were already completely desperate over the invasion of the strange man with powers.
"He's here!", someone shouted upon seeing him.
Everyone watched him walk through the entrance toward one of the shareholders' rooms.
"Stop, stop! He is… he is Severus Prince!", someone began to shout. He was finally recognized.
The soldiers and everyone else there froze suddenly. That was the man who had saved Japan, the same one involved in the controversial portal that day in England with an army of shadows, and now he was there, invading their base.
Severus finally stopped and looked at them.
"I want all the reports about the object that is coming toward the planet. That is not a comet, but another Monarch, with an army of five hundred thousand ice creatures. These creatures are far more powerful than the Japan portal and even more than the portal from which the shadows that knelt before me emerged."
The entire room fell silent for a few seconds, until someone finally reacted.
"Five hundred thousand… Is he talking about five hundred thousand?", someone murmured, in shock.
"So that comet…"
"Mr. Prince, please, come with me", said a man, stepping forward. "I was here when you invaded the first time, but in a much more subtle way", he added in a low tone.
Severus remembered it well. On that occasion, he had used invisibility. This time, he did not care. He had invaded by knocking down soldiers, ignoring bullets and anything that tried to stop him. Invading invisibly or directly was irrelevant. To him, the three options were equally effective.
In any case, no one else showed hostility, although caution never truly left. Some expressions shifted into a mix of perplexity and respect as the director and others escorted Severus to the indicated room.
They entered a soundproof room, despite the glass and the crowd gathered around it. Severus sat down on a chair with elegance, while the men around him also took their seats, their cautious eyes never leaving him.
"Well, Mr. Prince, first of all, it is a pleasure to meet you. I am the director of this facility and I was not here the last time you were at this place, but I was informed that you entered demanding daily notifications about the comet for being one of the shareholders... Be aware that we have already sent all the reports to your address in Great Britain", the man began, as he took out some papers and turned on the computer. "But since you are here, we can speak in person about what we are seeing now on our satellites."
He began pointing at the images. It was evident that they possessed cutting-edge technology, far beyond that of any other institution of that time. While most were still dealing with screens full of old programming algorithms, rudimentary charts, and square displays, here the image was sharp and colorful, a striking contrast with NASA's technology compared to the rest of the world. After all, larger entities usually remained decades ahead before releasing their advances to the public.
The image of the comet appeared on the screen as the man explained.
"It will arrive in two days and seems to be heading directly toward…", he murmured, hesitant to speak openly to that man.
"Toward where?" Severus insisted.
Severus narrowed his eyes. The others present seemed quite uneasy, even more so after he had informed them that that comet was, in fact, a Monarch.
"See for yourself...", the director said as a trajectory began to appear and the comet was heading straight for...
"London?", Severus murmured in surprise. It was heading for the capital of England. Why? Had it been there before?
"Everything we know about them came from the news in Japan and your public interviews. We also obtained some information from the wizards, when you revealed details during your hearing at the Supreme Court of Wizards of Great Britain... If you can answer our questions, we would appreciate it. We are practically in the dark and need to better handle the situation", asked the director of the facility.
Severus nodded, signaling for him to continue. The man began questioning him about the Monarch, about the order created by the rulers, about other civilizations and worlds beyond Earth, and even about Severus himself, and how he was an entity formed by the fusion of two beings, possessing the power of a Monarch.
Severus did not lie. It was better for humanity to understand the story on the brink of, perhaps, extinction.
"Well, in any case, my time here is over. I will go after every portal that appears around the world over these two days. I intend to clear them and increase my strength. Whatever comes with that comet will cause great destruction", he said. "Ask your government to keep an eye on Great Britain. An evacuation must be carried out in the capital of England. What is in there knows where to strike..."
He finished the sentence and, in the next instant, Severus disappeared before them, leaving no trace whatsoever.
The first thing Severus did was return to the village. He found everyone gathered and explained the situation. Worry and tense looks appeared everywhere.
"Wait… you're going to face five hundred thousand monsters?", Rosária asked, not hiding her concern.
"Yes. It will be a challenge even more powerful than any I have faced so far, but there is no one else to do it", Severus replied.
The people nodded, even though they all seemed reluctant.
Severus also said that he would leave, that he would be gone for two days, and that no one should leave the Mountains of Scotland. They would be safe there. If he lost… well, everyone was to leave the country. Severus was already beginning to prepare portal keys while issuing orders for Gringotts to buy hideouts and properties around the world, spending his entire fortune on whatever was necessary to keep the people of that world safe.
He did not know if he would win this fight, or that battle, and even so, he needed to prepare for a plan B.
Severus left before they could protest against his decisions.
That was his choice.
Whatever happened, he would not involve anyone else.
No one but him could be involved in what was to come.
The battles were now on another level.
If it were five hundred thousand ice monsters against one hundred thousand shadows, it would be a battle that that world had never seen.
Before anything else, he went once again to the Ministry, ignoring the reports and news of the entire day. He reported everything he had seen and spoke about the coming threat.
"Everyone must leave the capital of England immediately and even the country. The comet is coming directly toward London and will arrive in two days. Therefore, I ask that you evacuate now."
That was the order.
In the next moment, Severus teleported away, heading to the first location on the list of portals that had been discovered by people using his mana-detection machine. He would travel across the world, invading every point where there were portals, closing them one by one.
All of Great Britain fell into generalized panic. If everyone had already been frightened before, discovering that a comet was advancing directly toward the capital caused not only the British government but also Great Britain's neighboring countries, as well as nations across Europe and other continents, to mobilize forces to help. The evacuation began immediately. Muggles and wizards worked day and night to ensure that no soul was left behind, whether person or animal.
Wizards also abandoned their villages, homes, and mansions. Even Diagon Alley was completely emptied. Shops were closed or hastily stocked.
In just a day and a half, there were no inhabitants left in England. The wizards themselves searched for every hidden person. Even those who did not want to leave were taken by force.
The joint work between wizards and the military resolved the entire situation. Meanwhile, Severus continued traveling across all continents. He passed through every portal, closing them within minutes, sending out his shadows and accumulating little experience, since none of them represented a true challenge. Even so, he managed to gather more than five thousand monsters as shadows from the two hundred portals he conquered, in addition to gaining twelve levels.
He was now level 261 and filled his stats with all the possible points.
And then Severus returned to Great Britain, once again just a few hours before the comet finally reached the planet's atmosphere.
