Chapter 183 - Chapter 181 - Dealing with the Arrogant Nott Family.

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV

London.

...

...

The shadow emerged in the middle of the courtyard, while she stared intently at the house.

It didn't take long for a house-elf to appear, seeing a familiar presence entering the property, immediately looking in surprise at the shadow of a human wizard there, burning in shadows and blue light.

"Master...?" The house-elf murmured, stunned as he felt his master's presence in that thing, which was impossible for the elf, after all, his master had died a week ago.

"It seems he recognized you..." Snape stepped out from behind the shadow, looking curiously at the elf, while the latter began to tremble in fear, taking steps backward.

"..." The shadow of Patriarch Nott, unable to speak, merely gazed at the house-elf with his blue eyes, clearly waiting for the command of his king.

The elf, seeing that, was about to teleport away, realizing something was terribly wrong, but before he could, the shadow swiftly acted, stunning him as he collapsed to the ground.

"I think that's enough, let's move on." Snape said, and five more shadows of wizards began to rise from his feet, along with Kargalgan also appearing.

"I want you all to defeat anyone who shows up, and you... Create the barrier and maintain it so that no one enters or leaves this property." Snape ordered, the last command directed at the orc shaman.

The Nott family had no idea they were under attack while Lucas's grandmother was arguing with him about the family's current responsibilities, now that Lucas's father had become the head of the family.

"There is an enemy in the darkness, Lucas... my husband will be avenged, whoever did this to him..." The woman said in a serious tone, while Lucas nodded.

If he said he didn't feel rage and hatred toward the one who had done this to his family, he would be lying. After all, killing his grandfather was like a humiliation to the Nott family's pure-blood name, an affront to a traditional and powerful family in England.

Moreover, Lucas had always seen him as a mentor. His grandfather always sought revenge for everything he had suffered at Hogwarts because of Snape. Even when he was tortured, he wished to retaliate against whoever had done that to him.

The loss of the patriarch was a massive blow to the Nott family. Furthermore, he was a powerful Death Eater who had been in the Dark Lord's front lines, clearly interfering with the most powerful group in England, according to Lucas.

"I will avenge whoever did this."

At the meeting where Voldemort was furious about what had happened, he approached Lucas and said those words, while Lucas thanked his master.

"Do not worry, we will soon find out who did this." Lucas's grandmother spoke at that moment, noticing her grandson lost in thought, maintaining a firm tone.

"Yes, grandmother. My father and I will avenge grandfather." Lucas responded, clenching his fists.

"How interesting..."

A sudden voice appeared beside them, making the elderly woman and the young adult quickly turn to the side. A hooded man, his face hidden, was sitting there, occupying the empty chair while they drank tea in the garden behind the mansion.

"Who are you?" The woman murmured slowly, cautiously reaching for her wand as this stranger appeared suddenly without warning.

Lucas also tensed, patting his clothes in search of his own wand. The stranger, however, remained motionless, observing them. Only the three of them were in that place, and none of the Nott family members knew how that man had managed to be right next to them without being detected, which unsettled them.

"You don't need to know who I am, but I will inspect this house. If I find something I don't like, well... you will meet the same fate as your grandfather." The masked man's voice echoed coldly and emotionlessly.

The woman did not hesitate any longer. She quickly drew her wand and pointed it at him. However, before she could cast any spell, her hand was forcefully grabbed. She let out a groan of pain as she was forced to drop her wand. The stranger easily took it from her, leaving both the woman and Lucas stunned.

"Well, Lucas, you can try as well." The man spoke mockingly, staring at the boy who had been a bully at Hogwarts last year and who had suffered at his hands because of it. He, along with other members of important families, had joined together to torture Jerônimo, and Snape had returned for him as well, since no one had done anything to them in the end.

"But, come to think of it..." Snape continued, fixing Lucas with a cold gaze. "You tortured that student at Hogwarts and got away with it. Coincidentally, later, you were tortured. Perhaps this will remind you what it feels like to be struck by a Cruciatus."

The atmosphere froze for an instant before Snape simply pointed the woman's wand, which he had taken, at Lucas and cast a spell, easily commanding the wand to obey him.

The boy was thrown backward, his wand— which he was desperately trying to grab— slipping from his grasp and falling to the ground before he had a chance to react. A green bolt coursed through his body as he screamed in pain.

"AHHH!!!" He groaned.

Lucas's grandmother was stunned, staring at the hooded man, unable to see his face or recognize his voice.

"Do you know who you're dealing with, stranger?" She spoke, powerless, watching her grandson writhing on the ground, trying to free himself from the torture. But she was without a wand, and even her own was now being used by the stranger without resistance, something that shocked her.

"Honestly, I don't care." Snape responded coldly. "My soldiers killed your husband. And you, as you can see... are nothing."

The woman widened her eyes upon hearing that, stunned, but not entirely surprised—after all, it couldn't have been just anyone getting in there.

"You bastard!" She shouted in fury, trying to do something, but she was still defenseless.

"Intruder!!!!!" She did the only thing she could, exclaiming with the loudest voice she could muster, but before she could complete the action, an impact struck her hard, throwing her backward. Her body landed near Lucas's, dazed.

Snape remained calmly seated, observing as people began to rush out of the house.

"What is this?" An older man murmured beside a woman—they were Lucas's parents.

Three other men also appeared, followed by private guards. As usual, the great families liked to have lackeys ready to protect them.

"Just in time..." Snape commented, and that was the moment when everything began.

In the next instant, a beam shot up from the front of the mansion, soaring into the sky before expanding across the entire property. The wizards around were stunned, uncertain whether they should focus on the stranger who had attacked the woman and the young man or on the magical barrier that was beginning to form around the mansion.

The spell completely isolated the place, and being in the middle of London, it would certainly draw attention, but at the same time, it would prevent anyone from entering or leaving.

Suddenly, several shadow mages began appearing on the mansion's rooftop via Apparition. Within seconds, they started casting spells without hesitation, attacking the family's wizards, who, surprised, quickly tried to defend themselves, leaving the seated stranger momentarily ignored.

The shadow mages could use Apparition and every spell they knew. Although they were not as powerful as they had been in life—at least for now—they began bombarding the wizards, who had no idea what those dark figures were, attacking them mercilessly and even using magical spells.

"Well, I'll leave you with my soldiers while I explore the mansion."

Snape spoke with total indifference, as if he were on a casual stroll. He then stood up with unhurried steps and began walking away, leaving several shadows behind to ensure that the family members were kept under control.

Spells crisscrossed the air in all directions as wizards appeared and disappeared, using Unforgivable Curses and other destructive magic, but Snape merely tilted his head or shifted his body slightly from time to time to dodge them. He moved with tranquility, advancing through the property without haste as the spells whizzed around him.

Some wizards managed to defeat the shadows, but to their horror, they simply exploded and, moments later, regenerated.

"What is this?! How can they come back to life after being hit by an Avada Kedavra?" one of the dark wizards exclaimed in desperation and fear.

The shadows were unable to avoid the impact at times and were struck, but even when seemingly destroyed, they returned shortly after, using Snape's mana. Gradually, they began to defeat some of the family's wizards, thanks to their continuous regeneration, catching them by surprise as they leveled up.

"Where is that guy?!" Lucas's father muttered, searching for Snape, realizing he had disappeared without anyone noticing, while his gaze shifted back to the barrier in the sky.

"Find out where this energy source is coming from and stop it immediately!" he ordered as he saw more shadow mages returning to the battle, while he and a few others resumed fighting.

Some of the dark wizards quickly moved forward to carry out the mission, while others continued trying to prevent the shadows from regenerating.

Meanwhile, inside the mansion, Snape walked without hurry. The portraits on the walls began cursing at him, outraged by his presence amid an attack, but he simply destroyed them without hesitation, silencing them instantly.

His eyes scanned the environment, searching for paintings that depicted dungeons.

Snape was on a hunt for these paintings. After all, dungeons could be accessed through portals contained only in magical paintings. Besides Hogwarts, the noble wizarding families also had many such portraits. He needed to find them.

For now, all he could do was continue strengthening himself in this world. He would search all of England for dungeons to achieve this, no matter whom he had to invade—whether it be the Ministry of Magic, Azkaban itself, the homes of noble families, or the residences of the Death Eaters. Nothing mattered, as he doubted anyone could stop him from doing this in this world anymore.

Suddenly, an explosion of flames erupted outside, blasting through one of the rooftops. Snape looked up and saw the fire sweeping above him, evaporating the ceiling with Kargalgan's magic, as only the shaman could do that. The beam of flames was so intense that it even shocked the family members fighting in the garden against the shadows, watching the fire advance after consuming part of the house.

The spell pierced through the barrier and expanded outward. Anyone outside the property saw a massive tunnel of fire emerge, reaching toward the sky. The entire neighborhood was illuminated, and even the Muggles could see the fiery tunnel cutting through the heavens.

"Kargalgan seems excited," Snape commented indifferently, shrugging as he continued walking.

All the dark wizards who had attempted to fight against the orc's shadow were instantly vaporized. The orc mage merely observed the ashes on the ground without any reaction. His king had ordered him to guard the place, and so he would. Since they had advanced to attack him, they obviously never stood a chance. He was not like the other shadows—he had merely cast a spell against which none of them could defend.

It didn't take long for even the shadows to regenerate once again and begin defeating the entire Nott family, though not necessarily killing them all.

Now, only Lucas and his grandmother remained conscious, watching as their family was defeated around them. Lucas's father, his cousins, and uncles lay on the ground, unconscious. The shadows did not attack them again—they simply waited for orders from their king.

Lucas and his grandmother could only stand there, trembling in fear. They had never imagined that the one who had killed the patriarch of their family would be there the following week, accompanied by creatures none of them could comprehend.

Meanwhile, Snape was no longer in that dimension. He had found one of the paintings he had been searching for and had entered it, accompanied by his shadows, except for the shadow wizards, Kargalgan, and a few other soldiers, who remained guarding the entire outer area to ensure no one would interfere with him as he entered the dungeon.

A short time later, Snape emerged from the mansion, part of it now destroyed, appearing even more powerful than when he had entered. He had explored two dungeons and returned unscathed.

Outside the property, Aurors from the Ministry were already surrounding the area, and allies of the Nott family had begun to arrive. But upon seeing the barrier surrounding the mansion—identical to the one that had been used against the Norton family—they hesitated, unsure of how to enter. They watched yet another noble family being attacked, already expecting that all the Notts were dead, whoever the attacker might be.

"How does it feel, Lucas?" Snape spoke calmly as he walked among the shadows hovering around him. He continued,

"You were always the ones who placed yourselves above everything... Even above the law. And now, you're being hunted and slaughtered like animals."

Lucas stared at him in pure terror, unaware that beneath that hood stood Snape.

"I hope I never see you again. Because if I do... you will die."

With those words, the shadows began to retreat, sliding beneath Snape like a black tide. Lucas and his grandmother swallowed hard, unable to react.

In the next instant, Snape vanished.

He reappeared beside Kargalgan, who had been waiting for his orders.

"Deactivate the barrier."

At that very moment, the orc shaman obeyed.

Snape simply conjured his phoenix, used its Apparition, and left the place without looking back.
