Chapter 208 - Chapter 205:The Eve of Destiny – Indigo League Finals Await

The Indigo Plateau had transformed into a fortress of pure anticipation. Dawn broke with golden light spilling over the mountains, bathing the entire complex in warm hues. By mid-morning the stadium was already swelling families arriving early with picnic baskets, trainers from every corner of Kanto crowding the gates, vendors setting up stalls selling "Finals Champion" headbands, limited-edition Poké Balls stamped with the Indigo League logo, and glow-in-the-dark "Champion Aura" wristbands that pulsed in blue and yellow. The air carried the scent of fresh-cut grass, frying food, and that indefinable electric tang that always lingered after a night of repairs and cleaning crews working overtime.

The field looked pristine new sod laid overnight, boundary lines painted crisp white, trainer platforms polished until they gleamed. But everyone knew the scars of the previous battles were still there beneath the surface. The quarterfinals and semifinals had turned the arena into a war zone; the finals would decide who walked away as Champion.

The giant central screen above the field remained dark for now, but smaller monitors around the concourses were already showing highlight reels: Ash's alpha Pidgeot slicing through Alakazam, his permanent Mega Aerodactyl raining Stone Edge meteors, his Dragonite radiating overwhelming aura in the final clash against Mega Blastoise. Clips of Ash's calm confidence, his quiet commands, his team dominating they looped endlessly.

The crowd buzzed with speculation.

"Who's going to win?"

"Ash has a monster team that Dragonite alone looks unstoppable!"

"Giselle's got money and connections… but can she beat that kind of power?"

"I heard her aunt Lorelei is in the stands. Elite Four backing her up."

"Ash doesn't even look nervous…"

High in the VIP/family section, Delia Ketchum sat with her hands clasped tightly, eyes shining with pride and nerves. Amber bounced beside her, waving a handmade sign: "Big Brother Ash Champion Forever!"

Daisy Oak stood next to them, screaming Ash's name every time his face appeared on screen. Misty and Sabrina sat a row behind Misty leaning against Sabrina's shoulder, both girls wearing matching "Ash #1" scarves, whispering excitedly about how they'd celebrate after he won.

Cynthia still incognito in her wide hat and sunglasses sat a few seats away, clapping steadily whenever Ash's highlights played. She caught Ash's eye during warm-ups and gave him a subtle nod a silent promise of support.

But the VIP section wasn't the only place filled with important eyes from across the world.

In Petalburg City, Hoenn, May and Max sat cross-legged on the living room floor in front of the big screen. May's fathers pokemon was curled in her lap; Max's was jumping in enthusiaum. Their father Norman stood behind them, arms folded, a small smile on his face.

May leaned forward. "That Ash guy… his team is insane. That Dragonite looks like it could level a city!"

Max pushed his glasses up. "He's got a crazy lineup. Look at the way he commands them it's like they're part of him."

Norman chuckled. "He's got spirit. Reminds me of someone else I know."

In Ecruteak City, Johto, Gym Leader Morty sat in the dim light of his gym, the old bells chiming softly overhead. His Gengar floated beside him, watching the screen. Morty's eyes were narrowed thoughtfully.

"Ash Ketchum… that aura he gives off… it's not normal. There's something ancient about him. His team moves like they share one mind."

Jasmine Steel-type Gym Leader from Olivine City had joined him for the finals. She sat beside him, arms crossed. "His Pokémon are terrifying. That Aerodactyl in permanent Mega form… I've never seen anything like it. And now he's facing a spoiled rich girl with her aunt's help? This should be quick."

Morty smiled faintly. "Never underestimate pride. It can make people dangerous."

In Canalave City, Sinnoh, Professor Rowan stood in his lab, arms folded, watching the broadcast on a large monitor. His Staraptor perched on a nearby stand, tilting its head at the screen.

"Ash Ketchum… a young trainer from Kanto with a team that radiates power. There's something more to him. Something the world hasn't seen yet."

In the distant Kingdom of Rota, Queen Ilene sat in her private viewing chamber, surrounded by ancient tapestries and glowing Lucario statues.

Ilene's eyes were soft but sharp. "Perhaps. The aura he carries… it's pure. Strong. If he wins today, he may one day come to Rota. And when he does… we will be ready."

In the shadows of Goldenrod City, a small group from Team Rocket's Johto branch watched on a stolen monitor. Their leader a woman with sharp features sneered. "That boy's team is loaded with power. Boss will want to know about him. If he wins, we might have a new target."

In the Viridian headquarters, Giovanni himself sat in his private office, Persian on his lap, watching the same feed. A slow smile spread across his face. "The boy advances to the finals… with a team that could challenge even me. Persian… it seems our little conversation in Viridian Gym was only the beginning."

Back at the Indigo Plateau, the announcer's voice boomed again.

"Ladies and gentlemen! The Indigo League Finals are about to begin! In one corner the princess of Celadon City, the trainer who has used wealth, beauty, and ruthless strategy to reach this stage Giselle!"

Giselle stepped out from her tunnel long brown hair flowing, designer outfit pristine, a smug smile plastered on her face. She walked with the air of someone who believed the trophy was already hers. Her Vaporeon walked beside her, tail swishing arrogantly. The crowd gave a mixed reaction some cheers from her fans, mostly boos from Ash supporters.

Inside, though, Giselle was nervous. Last night her aunt Lorelei had come to her hotel room furious, worried, and determined. Lorelei had handed her a Poké Ball containing Dewgong "just in case that beast of a team shows up." Lorelei had also given her a stern lecture: "Humiliate him. Make him beg. But do NOT lose. The family name cannot take it."

Giselle had nodded outwardly confident. But deep down, she remembered the videos of Ash's battles. That Dragonite. That Gyarados. That Pidgeot. She swallowed hard.

The announcer continued.

"And in the other corner the trainer who has rewritten fate itself, the beast of Pallet Town, the man who just defeated Gary Oak and brought Mega Evolution to its knees Ash Ketchum!"

Ash stepped out calmly. Pikachu on his left shoulder, Eevee trotting beside him no smirk, just quiet, unshakable confidence. The stadium erupted louder than it had for anyone all tournament.

"ASH! ASH! ASH!"

Ash walked to his platform, eyes scanning the crowd. He spotted Misty and Sabrina in the stands both waving frantically, hearts in their eyes. He blew them a quick kiss. Then his gaze found Cynthia in disguise she gave him a subtle nod, lips curving. Daisy Oak screamed his name so loud her voice cracked.

Giselle's eyes narrowed. She saw the flirting the kisses, the smiles and something inside her snapped. She hated how calm he was. How loved he was. How everyone adored him.

She stepped forward to her side of the field, voice carrying over the noise.

"Ash Ketchum! I have a bet for you!"

The crowd quieted slightly curious.

Giselle tossed her hair. "If I win… you become my butler for the next six months. You'll serve me, carry my bags, do whatever I say. And you'll do it with a smile."

She smirked, expecting him to flinch.

Ash just looked at her calm, almost amused.

"And if I win?" he asked, voice clear.

Giselle faltered for half a second, cheeks flushing. But she recovered, lifting her chin.

"Then… I'll be your maid for six months. I'll do whatever you say. Deal?"

The stadium went wild gasps, cheers, laughter.

Ash's smile widened slow, dangerous.

"Deal."

The referee stepped forward.

"Trainers! This is a full 6-on-6 single battle! The winner becomes Indigo League Champion! Begin!"

Inside Ash's mind the system chimed twice.

[Ding!] [Mission Triggered: Humble the Rich Kid] Mission Details: Defeat Giselle in battle. Put her in her place and make her serve as your maid for six months. Reward: Dragonite Mega Stone ×2

[Ding!] [Mission Triggered: Discipline the Ice Elite] Mission Details: Discipline Ice Elite Lorelei for aiding her niece in violating the spirit of Pokémon battles either through battle or force. Reward: Psychic Boost +1 level, Aura Boost +1 level, Master Ball ×3

Ash's smile grew.

Oh, this is going to be fun.

The finals were about to begin.
