Chapter 38 - Echoes of the Forgotten

Two weeks had passed since the battle at the Grave of Chains.

The world felt quieter now almost too quiet. But Alex knew peace never lasted long. Not for them.

The team had made camp near the edges of the Northern Plains, the horizon painted gold beneath a dying sun. A cold wind whispered through the grass, carrying with it the scent of rain and dust.

Alex sat by the campfire, eyes fixed on the flickering flames. "Two weeks, and still no sign of another relic."

Vile, crouched beside a small device that emitted faint blue light, frowned. "The readings are all over the place. It's like the next artifact is… moving."

Liam: "Moving? Like, on its own?"

Kira: "Or someone else found it first."

That thought settled heavy between them.

Ethan leaned back against a tree, the Scythe resting beside him. "If that's the case, we'd better find it before they figure out how to use it."

Mya: "You think anyone can use it? These weapons feel like they're meant for us or at least for people like us."

Lyra: "Power never stays buried for long," she said softly. "And it always attracts those who shouldn't have it."

Alex stood, tightening his gloves. "Then we move at dawn. Vile track the strongest energy signature you can. Even if it's unstable."

Vile adjusted his glasses and nodded. "Got it. But… I should warn you it's not in one place. The signal's echoing from ruins spread across three regions."

Kira raised an eyebrow. "Three?"

"Yeah," Vile said grimly. "Almost like someone scattered pieces of it."

Alex's expression hardened. "Then we'll start with the nearest."
