Lucien looked into his mother's eyes, finding solace in her presence. "I feel like... I'm dreaming at this moment, right now," he said softly.
Seraphina's eyes softened as she leaned forward, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Dreams can sometimes blend with reality, especially when our minds are troubled. But you are here now, with family. Whatever you experienced, it's over."
For some reason, the word "family" from her mouth gave a sting in his heart, and he couldn't figure out why. Lucien's eyes met hers, filled with a mixture of relief and lingering doubt. "Thank you, Aunt Seraphina," he whispered.
Tiara's soothing voice cut through his turmoil. "We are here for you, Luci. No matter what happens, you are not alone."
The moment she said that, something triggered inside of him, and moments of his past began floating back.
