Mavis's projection was twisting in pain as Ankhseram showed his anger for saving Karna.
Zeref was screaming in rage as well, but he was unable to do anything at all as he was still under Ankhseram's dominion.
"You dare go against me mortal, you think I would not retaliate. I kept you around because I believed you will be useful, but don't even think for a second that you are not replaceable" The death god spat as he gazed at the aftermath of the fight in the ship.
"Seems like I have to accelerate fate a bit more. The destruction that was supposed to happen tomorrow will happen today and no fairy sphere will be activated to save them" he muttered as he raised his hand on Mavis.
Mavis's eyes widened in fear as she sensed what was happening to her. Ankhseram was ripping out the memory of a spell from within her. As she realised it was Fairy Sphere, she tried her best to fight back. But was unable to do anything at all.
"In the fate of the world, Fairy Tail was supposed to survive the attack of Acknalogia by relying on the Fairy Sphere casted by Mavis Vermillion. I wonder what would happen if they never had the help of Mavis Vermillion to cast that spell" Ankhseram spat out with a sneer as Mavis shook in pain and terror.
Then his expression took a contemplating change.
"No, that is not enough, the chances of another in the guild knowing that spell is very high" he muttered as he looked at a glowing golden sphere. It was the entirety of the spell he took from Mavis.
"Hmm, I thought I would have to throw this spell away. But it seems like it can be useful after all" he muttered as he covered the entire golden orb with death aura.
He chanted the spell and activated, making a layer of pure black spread across the entire island along with the ships nearby.
"That will erase it from their memories. The absence of Fairy Tail might create a lot of problems for the people of this world. But who am I to worry about it. After all, their deaths might actually increase the dominion of death over this world" Ankhseram muttered nonchalantly while both Zeref and Mavis were horrified by the implications.
"And lets make sure this upstart does not complete his ascension shall we" Ankhseram muttered as suddenly his aura began increasing to a rapid manner and suddenly it shot out like a black pillar that reached to the skies.
Every single person near the island had their attention drawn towards it. They had no idea what it signified, but they knew it was something they should not go near to no matter what.
"The Black Dragon must have sensed my presence here right now. So instead of appearing tomorrow it will appear today" Ankhseram muttered and turned back to face both Mavis and Zeref.
He first looked at Zeref.
"You…you are still useful to me" he muttered as he snapped his fingers "Go back to your kingdom for now brat"
Suddenly Zeref felt spatial fluctuations all around the energy surrounding him. The next moment, he vanished completely.
But the moment he did Ankhseram's form started to flicker and a look of annoyance came to his face.
"Damn it, even though I did not directly kill them with my own hands, indirectly doing it has made the world angry" he looked at his own flickering arm. "I might not be able to appear for a few years at the least. But I can return within a decade"
He turned towards Mavis.
"Be glad, you got a bit more time before I will finally hunt you down as well" Ankhseram declared as he vanished completely leaving a pitiful girl who was trying her best to recreate a spell to protect her family.
At the same time in the ship.
The moment the first layer of death magic appeared, Karna immediately sensed what it was supposed to do and he did not repel it at all. He did not have enough energy to waste on it at the moment.
Hades who was sitting in front of him at the moment realised the effects of the spell as well but was unable to do anything about it.
Karna looked at his arms. He had completely lost his right fist as well as his left hand until his angle. The attack shot out by Hades was more destructive than he had thought before.
After he sensed the presence of the pillar of death energy, he realised what was happening. Ankhseram had appeared and hastened the conditions for the appearance of Acknalogia. So, he too has to complete his plans quickly.
He immediately manifested pure death energy and conjured two arms to substitute the missing parts of his mangled body.
He then turned to Hades who was losing his life at every moment and took out the horse talisman and used it.
Hades's eyes widened as his body spat out the shrivelled demon heart and created a new heart for him. He turned towards Karna and seeing that his arms had still not healed, realised that Karna's miraculous healing artifact had some drawbacks which will only allow him to heal only once.
"Boy, you shouldn't have done that. Why the hell did you waste that healing on an old man like me instead of healing yourself. You might cripple your chances of ever healing that arm if you waste any more time" he said as he slowly stood up.
"My arms are not the concern right now, if we want to save my mother. You have to listen to everything I am going to tell you right now" Karna replied seriously and realising the tone with which Karna spoke, Hades immediately began to connect the dots of everything that had happened in the short period of time along with what he had researched about Mavis's curse all those years ago.
And with his intellect, he managed to at least get an idea of what was happening. He stood up immediately.
"Tell me my boy. What do you require of this old man" he asked.
"The devil's heart, I need your research notes on it"
