In the blink of an eye, a torrential rain started outside, and Valentine Teller found herself in a bit of a bind.
She seized the opportunity while Mark Reed went to the restroom to quietly tell the bodyguard, "Please call your boss and tell him a friend of mine is visiting me here in Seattle. Because of the rain, my friend can't leave. Ask him if my friend can stay here tonight."
The bodyguard nodded calmly, made the call right in front of Valentine, and after finishing, said, "The boss agreed."
"Really, that's great! Please thank your boss for me."
Valentine was so delighted she nearly jumped up. If she weren't mindful of the baby in her belly, she would have jumped higher than a kangaroo.
She knew her limits and wouldn't wish for too much. Having Mark Reed stay and talk to her was great!
The sky seemed to have been punctured, and the rain outside the window was getting heavier, with the temperature dropping by ten degrees.
