Mark Reed tilted his head to avoid her, causing Valentine Teller to lose her balance and fall into his embrace, where he held her tightly.
Valentine lowered her head shyly, and Mark stared at the top of her head with a smile.
"Time to eat, time to eat."
Laurine Teller came in with a dish of poached spicy beef slices, all of Valentine's favorite dishes.
As Valentine caught the aroma, her cravings were instantly awakened.
She quickly went to get bowls and chopsticks, serving a portion and placing it in front of Mark Reed.
Seated by the small dining table, Mark Reed frowned slightly.
The small table before him was covered with years of grime that couldn't be cleaned away, and the chopsticks in his hand felt greasy and sticky. The bowl in his hands also had a chip, which might accidentally cut his lips.
He took a deep breath, choosing not to mind these things, focusing solely on eating. However, he found he didn't know where to start; he had no appetite.
