Mark Reed gently touched Valentine Teller's head, pulling her along to look at the photos.
"When was this taken?" Mark Reed casually pointed at a photo, trying to divert her attention and avoid thinking about those unhappy things.
"When I was ten. Most of these photos were taken on my birthday."
Valentine Teller looked at the younger version of herself in the photos, faintly recalling the happiness of those days.
Her tenth birthday was perhaps the happiest she ever had. It was the first time she tasted a birthday cake, small as it was, yet she found it so sweet. Her eyes curved like crescent moons and she struck a victory pose for the camera.
"Oh, when is your birthday?" Mark Reed looked at her little face, currently immersed in joyful memories, with a sweet smile across her brows and eyes.
"It's..." Valentine hesitated for a moment before saying casually, "Still a long way off!"
