He couldn't help but ask himself, did she really know her mistake?
Did she truly understand what exactly went wrong?
Maybe she still didn't know.
The two sat in silence, Mark Reed staring at the rhythmic dripping of the IV bottle, lost in thought.
After a moment of quiet, Sharry Vaux timidly spoke up, "Mark, can you stay with me at the hospital? I'm scared being alone."
Sharry was worried Mark was still angry at her, and her tone was unbelievably cautious.
In front of Mark, she felt as insignificant as dust.
Mark hadn't planned on leaving anyway, so he responded indifferently, "Okay."
"Thank you."
Mark's reply brought Sharry a surge of joy; moments ago, her eyes were filled with tears, and now they sparkled with a smile.
Mark didn't say anything else. He got up and turned off the main lights in the room, leaving only a faint, dim wall light. "It's getting late. Go to sleep. I'll be outside. Just call me if you need anything."
"Thank you."
