"Okay." Claudia Ross nodded. "Thank you for your efforts."
As she spoke, she headed toward the house, with Charmoline Barton following closely behind, kneeling on the ground to help her with her slippers.
Claudia Ross glanced at Charmoline Barton's subservient demeanor, frowned slightly, and said, "You don't need to get my slippers for me in the future."
"Yes, Madam."
Charmoline Barton helped Claudia Ross put on her slippers before cautiously rising from the ground.
Perhaps it was her imagination, but Claudia Ross always felt that Charmoline Barton's caution seemed a bit overdone, as if she were acting, deliberately portraying herself as humble and careful.
Maybe it was just that she didn't like people behaving so submissively—it made her uncomfortable.
