Chapter 25 - One against all

Evening.

A note flew into Ange and Dorothy's room through the crack in the door. The leader picked it up, read it, and, holding out a piece of paper, said.

— Does someone seem to be waiting for you?

Ange examined the note, then left the room.

The girl walked through the corridors, which for some reason were empty. Ange didn't see a soul on the whole floor.

Ange went out onto the balcony, looked around, and with the help of a key ball, she descended to the outside of the wall. After walking a little along the wall, she saw a man in a white cape, with a picnic basket and a blanket lying next to him. Ange came closer, but at that moment a trap was triggered. A window appeared from the wall, from which flowers began to pour out. A second later, hundreds of thousands of petals flew to the ground. The girl was surprised.

Ange approached the man. He took off his cape and underneath it was the Svyat's happy face. The kid asked.

— Surprised? Well, you surprised. — Svyat was smiling.

The kid got up from the ground. Ange asked in surprise.

— Holy... But when did you arrive? And how did you get here?

The boy hugged the girl tightly.

— Recently. And I found you with the best espionage skills... Steve gave me a ride. — He said with a smile.

They sat down on the rug, and Svyat began rummaging in the basket and talking.

— I brought so many different things here!

Ange still couldn't believe what was happening.

They ate, then leaned against each other and watched the sunset. We talked a little about everyday things.

A light breeze blew. Svyat took off his cape and threw it over the girl. They continued to stare into the sunset. Suddenly, a flower calmly flying to the ground, touching the ground, made a metallic sound.

Ange woke up. The girl sighed, because along with the vastness of freedom outside the castle, she was imprisoned in some kind of prison.

Dorothy, Chise, and Beatrice had their cells on the same floor. In the lower tiers, Lawrence and Stephen were also separated, but they shared rooms with other prisoners. The officer was with an old man and two other men, and the mechanic shared a bed with only one prisoner.

The main entrance of the prison.

Through a large number of defense mechanisms, Richard and his bodyguard entered the prison. They followed one of the guards to the cells. The bodyguard remained on the ground floor near the men's cells as the prince ascended higher.

Richard walked past the members of the White Dove team, but stopped at Ange's camera.

The girl, huddled in a corner, did not pay any attention to him. Then Richard said.

— Damm... To come up with such a complicated plan in order to get one person out, who will eventually be caught crossing the wall. Isn't there too much risk?

Ange raised her head, a look of surprise on her face.

Richard continued.

— But I'm worried about one question... Where is your restless boy?

Ange said nothing. Richard looked at his watch.

— However, it doesn't matter, one more or two less...

Ange roused herself. The prince spoke as he left.

— See you soon!

The girl put her hands on the bars and watched Richard with anxious eyes.

On the floor below, the bodyguard, passing by Lawrence's cell, dropped the blade, which was quickly picked up by the officer's cellmate. The guard was far enough away at that moment not to hear it. The bodyguard approached Stephen's cell.

At this time, the prisoner with the blade began to approach Lawrence and speak.

— Well, tell me, what's the new guy in jail for?

The officer is sitting in the corner.

— Just like that, I was transferring the princess over the wall.

The old man raised his head, and the prisoner just laughed.

— Don't talk nonsense, I probably killed someone from the tower drunk, so they tied him up!

The man came closer and closer until he was able to swing, but then the old man intervened. It turned out to be none other than Ryan Lambert.

— Hey, Jeff, leave the kid alone, can't you see he's not used to it yet.

Jeff spoke in a serious tone.

— Lam, get out of the way.

The old man stood in front of Lawrence.

— No, you step back...

At that moment, the bodyguard used a key to open Stephen's cell and entered it. The mechanic, seeing this, abruptly got up and wanted to start fighting back. The bodyguard took out a well-hidden knife and came closer and closer, but then the sounds of a fight came from Lawrence's cell. The bodyguard and the mechanic exchanged glances. Suddenly, three guards came running, two of whom were separating the old man and Jeff. The third one looked into Steve's camera, saying.

—Hey, you, turn around.

The bodyguard turned around, hiding the knife behind his back. The guard said.

— Now come slowly to me with your hands up. And you, the prisoner, go to the bunk.

The bodyguard was about to deal with the guard, but Stephen, who suddenly passed by, took the knife and quickly hid it in his possession. Meanwhile, the guard himself approached the man and examined him.

He was about to search Stephen, but Richard came and said.

— We're leaving...

The bodyguard followed him, taking one last look at Stephen. The guard started to stop the guests, but they weren't going to listen.

As Richard walked past Lawrence's cell, he looked at Jeff, who was being taken to the isolation ward...

The Duke of Normandy's office.

In it, he interrogated Charlotte about the past event. The Princess was silent. Then the Duke said.

— Charlotte, listen, I don't hold it against you or Mary. But the people are the ones you work with, or rather for. They all want to go against the kingdom.

Charlotte remained silent. The Duke sighed.

— Charlotte, you're going to be a double agent from now on...

Several hours have passed.**

With this thought in mind, the princess reasoned in solitude in her chambers.

"What should I do?!", "How can I get my friends out? After all, they were all, all imprisoned, except... No, it won't work."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and the princess quietly approached her and asked.

— Who's that?

A woman's voice came from the hallway.

— It's time for tea, Your Majesty.

Charlotte opened the door. Behind her was Zelda with a tea cart. The girl entered the room without a word and stopped at the table and said.

— Princess, would you like to discuss business over a cup of tea?

Charlotte clearly didn't want this meeting, but she had no choice but to agree.

Zelda started pouring tea from a very familiar teapot, and Charlotte seemed to remember something. The spy held out a cup on a saucer, and she, sipping tea, said.

— Well, Your Majesty, what will you do?

Charlotte took the cup uncertainly and asked.

— What do you mean?

Zelda with a smile.

— Come on, Princess, don't be modest! We both know what this is about.

Charlotte was silent. Zelda continued.

— If you don't want to talk, then you shouldn't. However, be aware that any attempts will be stopped.

Zelda finished her tea and got up from the table.

— I almost forgot, please do not forget to follow your direct duties, I will keep an eye on you...

The spy left the room, and Charlotte put the untouched tea on the table.

The princess, without hesitation, went to the queen. In the royal chambers, the princess waited until the queen woke up, after which they had a conversation.

As it turned out, the Queen had not yet been informed about Mary's escape, this could be understood by her calm speech and questions unrelated to this incident. But suddenly Charlotte herself decided to confess about what had happened, of course in a milder form, in order to protect her grandmother's already poor health.

Charlotte only said that Mary, unable to cope with the pressure, wanted to give up the throne, to which the queen replied.

— As I understand her, being the ruler of a state is not easy, especially at her age.

The Queen looked into Charlotte's eyes.

— Charlotte, please take care of Mary, she's having a very difficult time, especially now.

Charlotte smiled.

— Okay, Grandma, but what about you? Are you all right?

The Queen is calm.

— I've been better, but don't worry, I'll be fine, and you go. Stay close to Mary.

Charlotte got up, wished her grandmother kind words and left. The princess went to Mary's chambers, but she was not allowed in. Charlotte tried her best to get in there, but Olivia came up and said.

— Please, Your Majesty, you can't come in, at least not right now.

Charlotte sighed and went to her room with a serious face.

Some time later, in the evening, a note entered the door crack. Charlotte read it with surprise.

Late in the evening, Charlotte put on her cape and went out the window into the courtyard. After climbing over the roofs, the princess successfully descended to the ground. There was a car parked near the outer wall, and Charlotte knocked on it and entered.

Zelda and Richard were in the car. The prince smiled and said.

— It's been a long time, Charlotte. Don't be afraid, have a seat, we'll just talk. I've heard a lot about your restlessness.

The princess sat down and immediately asked.

— What do you need?

Richard laughed.

— The same as for you – so that the kingdom becomes the best state on earth, where there will be no poverty, no robbery and everything like that...

The car started moving. Charlotte asked.

— Even if our interests may somehow coincide, how will you fix what is happening now?

Richard thought about it.

— Hmm... Let me think about it.

—We'll kill him... — Zelda said suddenly.

Charlotte said nothing. Richard told you.

— As a last resort, and the priority is to negotiate

Charlotte asked.

— But then, where are we going now?

Richard replied.

— As I said, to negotiate, but as a last resort...

Charlotte started peering out the window.

At that time, somewhere on the roof, a man in a white cape and a mask was waiting for something. When he saw the car Richard and Charlotte were driving, he jumped onto a random car, took out a kusarigama and caught it on the roof of the car.

The chase began. The man in the cape began to overtake Richard's car. This was noticed by the bodyguard who was driving. He pulled out a pistol and started shooting at the stranger. Then the man in the cape, taking out a Katana, beat off all the bullets, then, waiting for the moment, jumped on their car.

Also hooked by kusarigama, the man in the white cape began to break the glass in the car. Charlotte was horrified, Richard became interested, and Zelda, pulling out a gun, opened the door a crack, the man in the mask of the plague doctor lost his balance. But he quickly recovered, took out a saber and threw it into the salon.

The car was filled with smoke. The bodyguard had to stop. Richard dispersed the smoke, covering Charlotte, after which he spoke.

— Check the perimeter.

Zelda got out of the car, and the prince noticed the letter on the seat. The spy and the bodyguard looked around, the man noticed that the intruder had ruined all four wheels, and Zelda saw a man in a cape walking in the distance and shouted.

— Hey!

Then she immediately shot him several times. The man turned around and deflected all the blows, which made his gray hair shine under the hood. Zelda hesitated for a second, and the masked man unhurriedly took out a kunai and threw it, knocking the gun out of Zelda's hands, after which he turned around and disappeared. They were about to chase after him, but Richard, who got out of the car, holding a letter in his hands, said.

— Put aside, let this "Harlequin"? He'll come by himself.
