I take a moment to catch my breath and just relax before I have to deal with anyone else. The tavern is fairly quiet, but there's still plenty of people here, and the noise is enough that I don't feel completely alone.
"Hey." Katheryne comes up beside me and hands me a glass of water. "How are you doing?"
I accept it with a nod and take a sip before answering. "I'm alright." I say. "Just needed some air."
Katheryne smiles. "Of course. It must be hard on you, seeing May like this."
"Mm?" I blink, and look over at her.
Is it?
She's sick, of course, but it's only a flu, most likely. Maybe even just a harsh cold. I've never considered it to be anything that serious. Just something that's upsetting, and makes her miserable.
I suppose I'm a bit tired from the nights spent taking care of her.
But...
I'm not...struggling to deal with it, or anything. Am I?
"I'm...fine." I say. "I'm just tired."
Katheryne nods. "Of course." She says. "It's hard when someone you care about is sick."
