Chapter 19 - Chapter 19, The Mysterious Woman in Black Robe_1

Jiang Chen's brow furrowed as he looked to the side. A dark shadow leaped down from a tree, its voice tinged with admiration, "Very good. Ruthless in your attack."

Jiang Chen observed the Black-robed man. He could tell this person was a woman, but aside from the Thin Sword and black robe, he couldn't make out any other details. It was impossible to deduce her profession from her appearance. Could she also be a Swordsman?

Jiang Chen asked, "Who are you?"

The Black-robed man replied, "So, you are not the one I am waiting for."

Jiang Chen grew even more perplexed. Who is this person waiting for? Whoever it is, they'll face my sword first.

FWOOSH! A streak of Sword Qi rushed towards the Black-robed man, but she dodged it instantly, as if she had anticipated Jiang Chen's move.

Jiang Chen's brow tightened further; this woman felt very powerful to him—extremely powerful.

The Black-robed man nodded. "A fine display of Sword Qi. What a pity."

"What's a pity?"

"It's a pity you're not the one I'm waiting for. But since I took one of your sword strikes, you try taking one of mine."

FWOOSH! The Black-robed man also swung her sword, sending a streak of Sword Qi towards Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen was shocked and dodged away instantly. When he looked for the Black-robed man again, she had vanished.

A voice drifted back, "You are too weak..."

Damn it, who the hell is this woman? Jiang Chen cursed inwardly. What is her profession? Could she also be a Swordsman with hundredfold enhanced strength, like me? Could she also be a transmigrator?

Jiang Chen couldn't help but suspect this. After all, he was also a Swordsman, a Swordsman amplified a hundredfold. The sword strike the black-robed woman had executed was very similar to his own, practically identical. The same Sword Qi, the same effortless execution.

Jiang Chen took a deep breath. So what if I was exposed? Killing people in the wilderness is quite normal.

He surmised that from the way those four had attacked, they had mistaken him for some Clan Disciple out for training. Jiang Chen looked at himself. Could the Set I'm wearing have given me away?

In truth, Jiang Chen didn't realize that those four often loitered around the Naga Fissure and could tell at a glance if someone was a novice. His walking posture and his attire had already exposed his identity; what he wore was quite valuable. Even though Jiang Chen had concealed the glow of his equipment, anyone who paid a little attention could see that the gear he wore was no ordinary stuff. His trousers, Robe, boots, and belt were all the same color. Most importantly, he also wore a Ring on his hand.

After looting, Jiang Chen left. In less than a few minutes, Demonic Beasts, attracted by the scent of blood, arrived and devoured the bodies completely.

Jiang Chen continued on, in search of new Demonic Beings. He was indifferent to killing people; it felt just like killing Demonic Beings, only without gaining experience points. Jiang Chen sighed. "Wouldn't it be better if killing people also gave experience?"

Jiang Chen passed through the forest. He observed a Demon ahead. It was entirely blue, with very sharp ears, stood roughly one and a half meters tall, and wielded a Wolf Fang Club. It was a humanoid monster, almost indistinguishable from a human.

[Demonic Goblin]

[Level: 20]

[HP: 12,000/12,000]

[Physical Attack: 90-120]

[Physical Defense Power: 80-90]

[Magical Defense Power: 80-90]

[Description: A humanoid monster capable of using weapons, possessing extraordinary Strength.]

Jiang Chen watched the Goblin. The Goblin, not far away, also spotted Jiang Chen.

WAAAGH! Wielding its Wolf Fang Club, it charged toward Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen furrowed his brows. The distance is already fifty meters. Is the Goblin's aggro range this large? It can detect me from fifty meters away?

Goblins are humanoid monsters. Their aggro range extends as far as their eyes can see. Upon spotting an enemy, they will attack; their intelligence is not low. Above Level 20, most Demonic Beings are like this; their line of sight is their aggro range.

Jiang Chen watched as the Goblin rushed toward him, wielding its Wolf Fang Club. Without hesitation, he swung his sword. In an instant, the Goblin was split in two. Even with 12,000 HP, it was insta-killed by a single sword strike.

[Experience +120]

120 experience points. I'll need to kill hundreds of these to level up. Clearly, the later the stage, the more experience is needed, making it harder to gain levels. It might take ten days, half a month, or even an entire month to level up. This leveling speed is incredibly slow.

Jiang Chen walked over and looked at the Goblin's Weapon.

[Wolf Tooth Club]

[Exclusive Weapon of Goblins. Cannot be used or equipped.]

Alright then. This thing is useless.

There were more Goblins around. He continued hunting. These Goblins usually moved in groups searching for food; where one appeared, a second or even a third would often follow. Jiang Chen continued his search and indeed found a group of them. There were eight Goblins.

I can't let these eight Goblins get away. Jiang Chen headed straight for the group. The eight Goblins also noticed Jiang Chen.

WAAAGH! The eight Goblins, holding Wolf Fang Clubs, charged at Jiang Chen. He casually slashed and killed one. The remaining seven Goblins stared at the corpse.

WAAAGH! The other seven Goblins instantly fled.

Jiang Chen was astonished. What? They ran away?

He stood stunned. These seven Goblins aren't dumb; they even scattered in different directions! He was conflicted about which one to chase, and as a result, they all vanished.

Goblins are humanoid monsters with considerable intelligence. They fight if they think they can win and run if they can't; that's the advantage of intelligent humanoid monsters.

Jiang Chen pondered. In the future, when I encounter Goblins, it's best to try and kill them all at once. Otherwise, these guys will run off. And they're quite fast too; they were out of sight in a moment.

Jiang Chen continued searching for Demonic Beings, specifically Goblins. The surrounding area was a Goblin habitat. Many Level 20 individuals would team up to hunt Goblins and level up. Goblins are social creatures, often living in groups of tens or even dozens. Finding a Goblin lair meant he could potentially wipe them all out. Goblin lairs were typically located deep in mountain forests, built among trees or within caves.

Jiang Chen headed straight into the mountain forest, searching for Goblins. Just then, he smelled something aromatic and sniffed the air. That's... the scent of roasting meat.

Jiang Chen acted quickly, following the scent. He heard noises.

WAAAGH! WAAAGH! GRAWK! GRAWK!

Jiang Chen knew this was a Goblin lair with many Goblins gathered. He hid behind a large rock and peered out to observe the scene. Several Goblin Guards were scattered around, monitoring any movement in the vicinity. Inside, many Goblins held torches and were roasting food over a fire.

At that moment, Jiang Chen noticed that the roasting spit held human corpses. This scene was truly gruesome. The Goblins had bound human corpses to a spit and were roasting them with Flames.

Then, the aromatic scent I smelled earlier... it couldn't be...
