Chapter 37 - Rival

"Thanks for not resisting." She said it again, resting her head against his chest. Her Shawn was back. Or should she say her Eren? They were in Hell, so perhaps his Hell name was more fitting. Her happiness was so profound, she felt she could grant any wish.

A knock on the door made her frown. "Come in."

The door opened, and her displeasure intensified. He smiled. "Hi, Eren. I'm Rein," he said, extending his hand. Eren, still disoriented but instinctively protective, shook it, a growing discomfort brewing within him. He saw this Rein as a rival, someone too close to this beautiful woman—Alice, was it? Yes, Alice. He couldn't bear it when Rein spoke to her.

"Babe, I was looking all over the place for you," Rein purred.

"I've told you, I'm not your babe. I belong to only one person, and he is alive and healthy. I think we talked over this," she stated, making herself abundantly clear.

Rein merely smirked. "But your father gave his consent for me to marry you."

Shawn, or perhaps Eren, was on the verge of losing his cool. This man, Rein, was getting on her nerves. She wanted nothing more than to slap the hell out of him, but she forced herself to play it cool, unwilling to let him ruin her day. A sudden, potent feeling surged through Eren – if I was in love with her, I think now I'm falling head over heels for her.

"Then go and get married to my father, not me. Since he likes you, and I can see you also like him, you can get married. And oh, don't worry, I don't judge people's sexuality," she spat, venom lacing every word.

Rein clutched his chest dramatically, then smiled. "Don't worry, I won't force you, Nyx. But eventually, you'll fall for me."

She glared daggers at him. "I would have fallen for you three years ago, but no. Why would I fall now, especially now that my one and only is back?"

The door opened again, and Lucifer entered. "Welcome back, son of Dracula," he said. The name struck a familiar chord with Eren, but he couldn't place it.

"Uncle, I thought I said not to allow Rein into my chambers?" she questioned.

Lucifer gave a slight bow. Though her uncle, and a former ruler of Hell known for his ego, he afforded her the respect she commanded. "I am so sorry, my Queen. I didn't know when he came in."

Eren had been watching the scene unfold, but then everything began to fade. He felt like he was dreaming, then thud. He fell limp.

"Baby, please don't give up on me! I love you! Please, just hang on! Someone call the healer!" she screamed, her voice tearing. Was he going to leave her again? No, not now that he had just woken up. He had to stay for her, for Victor, for all of them. She had barely held herself together for three years. If he were to die again, she would just kill her f*cking self and die.

After a few minutes, the healer arrived and examined him. They then prescribed some herbs. "He fainted due to stress," the healer stated.

"What type of stress, please, so I'll know what to keep away from him?" she demanded, her voice tight with fear.
