"Dad." Ciara Taylor's voice suddenly came through, interrupting Isaac Taylor's thoughts. "Why does Amelia Clarke's mentally handicapped brother call you Dad?"
When Mason Carter left earlier, he had spoken so loudly that Ciara, standing by a nearby flower bed, heard everything.
Isaac Taylor cast a sidelong glance at Ciara. "What are you doing here?"
"Mom wants to see you." Ciara withdrew her attention from Mason and Amelia, then said, "She knows she was wrong. She hasn't had it easy lately."
Mia Taylor had taken Isaac's last bit of money and left, but it hadn't taken long for that money to be completely squandered.
Isaac Taylor had not forgotten what this mother and daughter duo did during his most difficult times. For a long time, Ciara had refused to acknowledge him as her father, thinking it was embarrassing.
"Whether her life is good or not is her own business." With that, Isaac turned and walked toward the apartment complex.
