As the head in charge of technology for the company, Kris Cooper always had his laptop with him. This was no ordinary laptop; not only did it contain all his work files, but it was also his favorite device for writing programs.
Grabbing the laptop bag, Vera Wave dashed out the door. The phone on the table immediately started ringing wildly.
"Master, don't abandon me!" it pleaded in a cutesy voice.
Vera ignored its pleas. If she didn't chase after him now, he would be long gone.
She sprinted all the way to the front door, only to see Kris Cooper's car already making a turn at the corner.
"Wait!" She frantically waved her hand, but Kris Cooper didn't see her. His car had already rounded the bend.
