Cherreads

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Sealed Lips with Lips

Vera Wave gave him a sly smile. "I'm not Vera... I'm your... God..."

Customer is God, and she was his customer, thus naturally his God.

There was a prominent smell of alcohol on her. Clearly, she had had too much to drink. Kris Cooper frowned and lifted her face, looking at her carefully.

Pretty and slender eyebrows, dewy grape-like eyes that sparkled, a petite nose, lips as soft and delicate as cherry blossoms...

Those brows, those eyes, that nose, that mouth—they were all just as he remembered them.

Only now, she was no longer the young girl from six years ago. Her baby fat had disappeared, and her features had grown more delicate and profound.

His hand, resting on her shoulder, couldn't help but tremble. Kris Cooper stared at the girl in disbelief, unable to comprehend that this was real.

The person he had been searching for for six years—he had unexpectedly bumped into her here?

"What's your last name?"

He still couldn't be sure.

"Hmm…" Vera Wave scrunched her little eyebrows as she leaned towards him. "Hehe… I won't tell you."

Kris Cooper, frowning at the alcoholic scent on her breath, took her right hand, spread her fingers, and examined her palm.

Under the light, the girl's palm looked thin and petite. In the very center, a bright red mole stood out remarkably.

Upon seeing that long-lost mole, Kris Cooper's eyebrows twitched.

It was as if time had suddenly rewound to six years ago. Back then, she used to like drawing a sketch of his profile on her palm, then clenching it in her hand.

"Kris, I want to hold you in my palm forever, just like this mole."

His fingers, unable to resist the urge, gently caressed her palm.

Vera Wave giggled. "Hehe... you... don't touch me... It tickles!"

But the man's expression had already turned grave. He gripped her arm tighter, a frown creasing his brow as he questioned her.

"Where did you go? Do you have any idea how long I've been searching for you! Why...why did you suddenly disappear back then..."

"Let go of me... It hurts..."

Her palm aching from his tight grip, Vera Wave instinctively tried to pull her arm back.

"Does it hurt? You know how pain feels, then what about me!" Kris Cooper pulled her in front of him. "Have you ever thought about my pain, did you ever consider it!"

He practically yelled the last four words.

"Why are you yelling..." Vera Wave struggled fiercely. "Why are you looking for me for no reason... I... I don't even know you..."

She doesn't know me?

How dare she say she doesn't know me?!

Kris Cooper was livid.

Looking at her dazed and bewildered face, Kris Cooper reached out, hoisted her up from the ground, and pulled her towards the restroom.

"You.....let go of me..."

She struggled, not wanting to go. He grabbed her, lifted her into his arms, and stormed into the restroom.

Placing her on the washbasin, he cupped some cold water and splashed it onto her face.

"Snap out of it and explain! Where have you been all these years?"

The person he had longed for back then, the one who had promised to marry him, had suddenly disappeared without a trace. He had searched for her for six years, and now she claimed not to know him...

"What the hell are you doing... let go of me..." A slightly sober Vera Wave, sensing danger, instinctively began to shout, "Help... help..."

"Shut up!"

...

Footsteps echoed from outside, as if someone was approaching.

Panicked, Kris Cooper pulled her into his arms and swiftly kissed her.

"Hel—" Her cry for help was cut short as the man's lips covered hers. The second syllable, "—lp," dissolved into a meaningless mumble.
