Aurelia held the phone, hesitating to answer.
Arthur Baker's words echoed in her mind, and she knew them to be true.
Once Kevin Gregory recovered, it would be her time to leave.
Yet she found herself unwilling to part.
Unwilling for it to end just like this, unwilling to leave him.
Aurelia Wood was in a daze when her phone rang again, this time from an unfamiliar number.
With a hint of curiosity, she answered, and on the other end was Kevin Gregory's mother. "Miss Wood, from my observations, Kevin has been discharged. Isn't it time for you to fulfill our agreement and leave him?"
Hearing this, Aurelia felt her heart tighten, "Could you give me a few more days?"
"What difference would a few more days make? The longer you stay with him, the harder it'll be for him to forget you. Why add to his pain? Miss Wood, I'm begging you, let my son go."
Let go?
Her words made Aurelia seem like some haunting spirit relentlessly clinging to Kevin.
